HOTEL El Dorado means ' the golden hotel' and you can see why as soon as you step inside at the reception- ornate white pillars are trimmed with gold and the front doors are worthy of any Sutans palace ! Delightful owner who is extremely friendly and sure to make your stay special. Our room directly overlooked the beach and the morning sun rise was stunning. Room was spacious and had a day bed in addition to a king sized bed . Terrace to front of room with table and chairs and 2 sun loungers directly overlooking beach - what more could you want ? Lovely terrace around pool with loungers/tables and chairs in the sun and shade. Comfortable lounge area in hotel that even has a grand piano ! It is a hotel of yesteryear for sure- stylish and elegant. Yes it is old and a little faded around the edges but that only adds to its appeal. A veey relaxing and comfortable stay. Walking distance into Carboneras town centre either on the pedestrianised promenade or on pavements/ roads. Hotel is surprisingly listed only as 2 star property.
We stayed in the El Dorado for a weekend while attending a wedding and were pleasantly surprised: great location on the beach, absolutely spotless rooms with good -and not too noisy - air conditioning, decent beds (some people might find the mattresses too hard, we like firm matrasses), a quirky pool and obviously lovely views of the sea and the rock on the outskirts of Carboneras. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My tiny criticism would be that the breakfast buffet was a bit basic. Otherwise you definitely get great value for money at the El Dorado.
This hotel is situated directly on the beach and is on the edge of the town of carboneras. It is like stepping vack on time on many ways. Comfortable furnishings and decor and lots of photos on walls. Lovely swimming pool even tho beach is on its doorstep. Friendly owners/ staff. Rooms are rather dated in terms of furnishings and decor generally but it is a great hotel in a fab location.
My 13yo daughter and I spent 2 nights here, arriving in 40 degree heat from a very early flight. The room was nice, but the beds were very hard! AC works, the pool is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is utterly delicious and other meals are I believe available. Drinks are served at the pool if you wish. The hotel was started by the set designer for Lawrence of Arabia, which was shot in the area, and is full of slightly bonkers props, giving it an interesting edge. It is right on the beach, although the beach restaurants are a 10-minute walk. As with most of this part of Andalusia, English is not prevalent away from the obvious places, so take a dictionary. The locals are very friendly and will help you stumble towards an order! As someone that hates the Brits-abroad cliché, this place was great, very Spanish, and a good find.
Very atmospheric little hotel with very friendly helpful staff and right on the beach. Definitely worth paying a little extra for the room with the private terrace and pool it has a huge bathroom, very comfortable bed and it's very pleasant listening to the waves whilst sitting on the terrace.
