We booked for one night and were very impressed by the room and the food that instead of heading home we stayed for another night. The room was excellent with great attention to detail and a great patio area to sit outside in the sun, plus the chickens next door 😊
On our first night I had the hake and my wife had the poached leeks with other vegetables. Really great mains but as a pudding mad person the apple crumble was divine. Fish pie on the second night which was better than the one I had at Mark Hix’s seafood restaurant the night before. Second night my wife had the hake in beer batter and for someone who never eats the batter she scoffed the lot so that says it all. Breakfast was also exceedingly good too. Well done to the chefs!
Great place to stay, great place to eat, very helpful staff and well done to Rosie and Mark the owners. Looking forward to our next visit.
We have stayed at the Tytherleigh Arms on a few occasions and we have never been let down. On our last visit we called at the last minute due to a change of plans and were fortunate to have been given the last available room. It had a view of the chicken run which was an added bonus!
The Tytherleigh Arms consistently offers clean, quiet and comfortable rooms. The beds are large with good linen and I had a good nights sleep. I particularly liked the cookies which were in the room along with a selection of teas and coffees. The bathroom was spotless with White Company products and cosy robes.
The menu selection for dinner is varied and tasty. I had the eggs royal for breakfast and they were perfectly cooked.
I would definitively recommend that you stay here.
Stayed in the two bedroom studio, All facilities excellent with the rooms and bathroom, tv and two lounge sofas ideal.
Was a cold day and heating needed attention by staff which was fast and efficient, boiler just needed resetting.
Plenty of constant hot water.
Restaurant and bar area was homely with great food, wine and beer options. Hosts/owners were excellent.
Breakfast choice was again excellent with quality served options and very good coffee.
Would recommend anyone staying or even just dining.
We stayed for 1 night before a River Cottage HQ day. The location was really convenient for River Cottage but also Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Our room was spotless, tasteful and really comfy - we would definitely stay again. We were offered fresh milk for the drinks tray on arrival which was thoughtful. We didn’t eat our evening meal in the pub but had a very well-cooked breakfast in the morning.
Me and my partner stayed here for one night on our travels across Devon.
The room was beautifully decorated and clean to a very high standard. Tea, Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies provided in the room along with a hairdryer and 'The White Company' toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was very comfy, and a beautiful big mirror for getting ready and doing makeup. The shower was perfect with the bathroom decorated to a modern standard.
The breakfast was amazing! the best bacon and sausage we have ever had -Breakfast is between 8.30am-9.30am.
We fancied an indian so ate at 'Cinnamons' in Axminster which is a 10 min drive away. It was very tasty with very friendly staff, would definitely recommend it!
Unfortunately due to poor public transport in the area we tried to organise for a taxi - however after calling 8 numbers with no one answering we ended up driving into the town.
It would have been nice to have a bit more information in the rooms regarding things to do in the area / taxi numbers / recommendations etc - the book simply provided information on the Tytherleigh Arms only which was a little disappointing especially as we did not know the area at all.
All in all, a great stay and would definitely recommend.
