Professional, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile! The staff were friendly, proactive and kind, often opening the door for us and keen to assist in orientation, touristy activities and any stress factor.
When we arrived, there was already a staff member (Huang Mei) with a lovely smile beckoning us to an appropriate offloading parking space. She immediately summoned the valet gentleman by radio to assist us. As parking is limited, the valet gentleman (polite and courteous) will park your car, possibly streetside parking, and the hotel will pay for the parking ticket on check-out. This immediately takes care of the stress of city parking, especially when in unfamiliar territory. We are really grateful for this efficient service!
Although the hotels age may be conspicuous in some aspects (celing vents), they have renovated the hotel quite nicely. The rooms were cosy and comfortable. There is a hot water machine on each floor, so no need to boil water. Towels, toothbrush kit and shower liquid gel packs available. Slippers provided. WIFI was good and quick.
The breakfast room is a gentle shade of tiffany blue, silver-grey and white with some art pieces like a clock and animal deer mounts. Limited options, but this is acceptable considering the cheap accommodation rate with breakfast inclusive.
Situated adjacent to reception next to the lobby toilets, the center is a casual area, more like a waiting lounge, in a loft. There were 2 bikes on site, a vending machine and a public telephone.
Centrally located, this hotel is close to Chiayi Park and Wanhua night market (10 minute walk). The 2017 Chiayi City International Band Festival was in full swing when we visited, with a local produce market activity selling food and craft.
Nearby is a McDonalds and KFC, with Poya and Mitsokoshi department store flanking the other side of the hotel. Many restuarants are nearby.
Apparently a shuttle service is available for guests requiring transport.
The hotel was good value, clean and comfortable. For a one night stay, it suited our family purposes perfectly!
A fantastic place for a short stayover with limitless hospitality!
The staff of Wan Tai went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming before, during, and after our stay. We dropped off our luggage because we arrived early, and our hostess then dropped us off at a local temple while we waited for our room.
We had called the day before trying to figure out how to get to Alishan, and our hostess had bus schedule information waiting for us when we arrived. After holding our baggage all day after check out, another staff member has volunteered to drive us to our train station, so we don't have to take a taxi.
These are just the highlights of Wan Tai hospitality. This hotel also boasts the cheapest local rates while being the nicest hotel on our trip so far; soft, comfortable beds, a complimentary breakfast with coffee and several fresh dishes and fruit, good wifi. If you are on a budget or just looking for nice rooms and great service, Wan Tai is your best bet!
Stayed here for an unbearable 1 night on Dec 22, 2011.
These folks called me last minute to say that the room I want is leaking water, forcing me to accept another room (Room 108 - ten floor). But this room is horrible. You can hear the lift engine cranking all night. I couldn't get much sleep at all. Worse, i can also hear workers chatting loudly outside. And I saw people playing chinese chess on the hallway. It is amazing the manners of the staff. They have the don't care attitude. Don't stay here. It is not worth the money. Staffs were dishonest in what they say.
