I went to this hotel 3 times in the last 2 years. I am in used to go to Cuba, but most of the time in the 4 stars Hotels. I remember, before my first visit to the Palma Real, I stop reading all the comments on the web because most of them, were negative.

Let me tell you the surprised I had when I arrived! The hotel was super clean. Always someone in the main bar to clean the floor. My room was clean as well. With the AC work’s without any issues. The water was super hot in the shower! Bed was change every day. I had 2 experiences, block 4. Little far away but please, we are in holiday so walking for maybe 3 or 4 minutes to go to the lobby are not the end of the world! I definitely recommend the block 1 with the little coffee bar in the entrance. The guy who was working there is very professional and very nice to talk with. He recognize your name and remember what you like to drink. The installation was sharp and you can see the staff working to keep it better and better.

The main reason I really like to go to this hotel is the staff. From the lobby to the restaurant are fantastic! Everyone without exception are special. Big shout out to the reception staff. They need to deal with many requests from the guests but their always keep their smile. The Guests services is also very accessible. Bar and restaurant team. Thank you for your excellent service. I can’t want to go back!

The food is good. I am very curious to see what the peoples who complains eat at home because, they have fish, meat, chicken. You can make super nice salad with many vegetables and if, you don’t like it, you can also going in town! At 3 minutes walk from the hotel to eat something else and! Super cheap.... You can also find many Bars around. Calle 62 and the Beatles are the most popular.

I would like to have your attention about something important and sensitive at the same time. The Cuban people doesn’t have higher salary. They work on the hospitality. In the service Industry. In Canada, it’s always welcome to give tip in the bar or at the restaurant. Imagine for them? Only 1 CUC make big difference in their life and with their own family. Please, think about it for your next visit.

This was our first trip to Cuba, as well to an All Inclusive. We were disappointed in the experience at the hotel. Firstly we arrived at 2.pm and were told that we could not get the room key until 4.00 PM. At 4.00 PM there were about 80 other guests at the desk all trying to get their room key. The hotel says there is a safe, but ours was locked and when I went to the desk to ask to use the safe they told me they don't work. So no safe. The phone does not work, so I could not even call to the desk to ask about the safe. There are no hand towels, no floor mat and our towels were only changed time during our 6 night stay. We were in building 4 which was a long hike from the lobby. We were on 4400 and pushed floor 4 to get to our room but 4 was actually 5, so we had to go down one floor. YOu would think the desk could explain on check in that 3 is 4. Also the noise from the hallway was so very loud in our room, and people are very ignorant when in the hall about others in their room. Upon check in we were given a map, but nothing was explained to us. The Italian restaurant was closed. We saw a little restaurant called the CRiolla ( cuban ) a La carte but had no idea it was included and that you need to make a reservation, we managed to get in on our last night and it was very good. I don't know if anything was included in water activities or if it was extra, the website says snorkel, canoe , kayak.. etc... but I have no idea where you would access these. The Russians were very rude and have no manners, even the hotel staff get irritated with them. There is clearly a line at the bar but people have no respect and just bud in front, the bar tenders should not serve them. The staff was very nice and the theatre shows were very good as well. Oh and the beach is a 2 block walk, not noted in the hotel info. I would not recommend hotel to anyone.

I chose this hotel based on price and it's location off Calle 1 in Varadero. The Palma Real had several problems serious enough that I probably wouldn't use them again: No hot water the whole time I was there- lukewarm at best and that was the whole time I was there. Sewage smell sometimes coming out of the floor drain in the bathroom. No mini bar stocked with a beer or two- just a bottle of water daily. No decent alchohol - I asked for a Havana club and they said they had none and showed me a pale cheap rum as the best one they had. I asked for a mojito instead and they said they had no mint so no mojitos. I didn't see anyone with a mojito the whole week. I bought a decent bottle of rum at the store and had that in my room in the evenings. Except for filling a bubba on tap, which I don't do, you had to pay 1.25 CUC for a bottle of Crystal. I was in block 4 in room 4105. The room smelled super moldy when I arrived, and black mold was on the walls in places. During the week, believe it or not, several spots on the wall started flaking and a day or two later, white fluffy mold started growing- it looked like cotton candy! The air circulation was always running and when I removed the thermostat cover, it was non functional inside- everything was disconnected. The room was much too cold in the evenings and on two night I used a blanket. The air conditioning was also loud so I had to use ear plugs to sleep. The food was adequate and I ate well enough at the buffet bar. The staff were all great and hard working and did their best with the resources they had to work with. Except for the room problems, I did enjoy my trip and the central location was great for shopping and sight seeing. The grounds and pool area are well maintained and I spent a couple of days poolside. Probably not my choice again, but it could be if the maintenance and bar issues were addressed.

This resort try’s their best with what they have . We where in building 3 at first and no hot water but you know , we accepted it and the water is not ice cold like in Canada so we dealt with it . Over 30 Celsius everyday sure helps . We then had to move to building 1, where we had the beautiful sea view . The cleaning staff gave us towels , water and when asked they changed the sheets . We left them gifts every day and where sweet helpful girls . Kierran ( not sure of spelling ) at the reception desk was fantastic when arranging a room for us . Moises , our favourite bartender is such a great person and great service. Even though he was sick , he had a smile every day !. The servers in the dining room are wonderful, friendly and work really hard to please
The food is different than what we eat but again they try their best . We enjoyed the snack shack and the a lacarte dinners where good !
I recommend this resort for the price , it’s us 3 girls that travelled , 2 of us it’s our 2nd time , one girl her 5 th time at this resort !
Great time , 10 days in Cuba , beautiful vacation !

The best and only advice I can give you is "Don't go here" Spend your money on any place but here!
Room: the first room was in Building 4 on the third floor, at night the thump thump thump for local bars, the mold smell was overwhelming, the air conditioner would not work even after repair, no hydro for one entire day we had to move the mold and the heat we could not breathe.
Second room building 2 ground floor backside.noise free, the air conditioner would not turn off, even with the two dirty, musty brown blankets we were cold at night, no fridge, often no hot water, the bed was terrible and I can usually sleep on any bed. I would wake up with sore spots from the springs.
Building 1 still has only a dirty service elevator for guests to use. It has been over a year!
Food: Absolutely the worst! I am one of those people that will gladly gobble down anything but what they were trying to feed us was just wrong. Veggies and fruit were sparse so a week of cucumbers with semi rancid olive oil dressing resulted in many bathroom trips. Eggs always plenty of eggs..and shells in the scrambled ones. Cuban punch is the only sweet drink they make that is actually very good.

Service: The cleaning lady swept and made the beds daily. Never a change in sheets, blankets or towels for the entire time we were there. No bath mats, hand towels or face cloths. You must take your shower whenever you check and find hot water because otherwise, you will be having a cold shower.

Location: AND this is how they get people to come here. The Beatles bar and Calla 62. The beach is lovely but crowded with rude people that play their music way way too loud. Gotta get up around 6:30 am to take your towel down to the beach and claim a lounge chair otherwise you will be sitting in the sand. There were chairs all around us all day long that no one used but had their towel over it. Because they were using the other chairs they saved that were out in the sun. Shame Shame.
I say let the Russians have this resort, they dont seem to mind. But then again they are up at 6:30 saving the chairs and waiting at the doors for the buffet to open so they can get all the served food ( that they leave laying on their plates). Shoving you away from the bar, blaring their Russian rap and being rude to the staff.

We have never had a problem there. Not sure why you got sick. We dont eat seafood so maybe that was issue. Chicken was always good. Room was always clean. Sure there is dome wood rot.. Seriously though! Its the tropics lol. Our maid cleaned the room everyday. We do tip. That is just a thing anyone should do. They dont Make a great salary so tipping is something everyone should do. We have seen alot of negative stuff about this resort but, personally, never saw anything NEAR what people report. Maybe Cuba is not for you? Its all in the repect you give them.

Just noticed ticket price went down a little but it’s offering a super saver room. What does that mean?
The room are all really the same, i have always done the same deal/room type as its the cheapest but has always been a great room!
