This was our second time visiting.... a beautiful huge pool. Perfect to swim in every day. Views over park and ocean are perfect. Great place to go and relax. Could do with a coffee maker in room. Fridge available on request. Breakfast available at extra cost
We stayed here for 6 nights from March 3/18. Xquenda hotel and spa is in a beautiful quiet setting, conveniently situated to everything. It's about a 10 min. walk to Chahue marina with its restaurants ( must eats- Tavoli 7 and Cafe Juanita) and the big supermarket. Also about a 20 min walk into LA Crueccita where there are many more restaurants.
Xquenda is an oasis overlooking a gorgeous and quiet park setting. We had a stunning view of the ocean and garden from our rm -Yahul.
Now the pros and cons:
-comfortable king sized bed although a bit on the hard side. Nice sheets
-We asked for a fridge and got one-very new and it had a small freezer inside. 8$ US per day surcharge which is fair.
-Immaculately clean room/ facilities and beautiful grounds and spaces-very Mexican
-The spa treatments are among the best I've had anywhere! Highly recommended!! Wish I had time for more!
-Nice lap pool and very clean!
Great tennis court
Liked the guy on the front desk. Sorry forgot yr name!
-Very good air con.
Fidel and Barbara were helpful but not the best hosts we've had
Good value really
I felt that the owners were just really going through the motions of running this place... not as friendly.
Our room was not a suite but I did request it after positive reviews. There is no door to the bathroom.
Nowhere to put your clothes away other than a small enclave with hangers. OK for 6 nights though.
The glass? top was missing from my night side table.
Night side table lights ridiculously bright!
Wifi restricted to lobby area only- in this day and age?
No coffee or tea in the lobby. We brought our travel kettle thank goodness.
Old plastic loungers in pool area with NO cushions. Chatted with a woman there whose husband has a bad back and he even brings a foam cushion with him but he wasn't comfortable in these loungers. Huatulco generally caters to the over 50s crowd by the way...
I umbrella that was fine for 1 couple at the pool just turned us off from going to the pool as these loungers and again without cushions was always occupied. How much would it cost to update these and add more umbrellas? We couldn't sit by the pool because of this. They did have loungers on the other side of the pool under a tree as I remember. The same old ones...
If they fix these issues I will give them a 5 plus star rating!!
Hotel was awesome..... comfortable bed. Beautiful views. Well worth the money we paid. Easy walking distance to the beach. (5) minutes. 10-15 minutes walk to the supermarket. Would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room but tequila works well for a breakfast drink. Breakfast available at the hotel.
My husband and I visited Xquenda Spa for massages, and we had such a good experience that we cancelled our lodging reservations and stayed at Xquenda instead. We stayed six nights and had a wonderful experience. First of all, the grounds are beautiful and tranquil. There are a number of chairs and comfortable loungers to sit in and the landscaping is vibrant and calming. The lap pool appeared to be 25-meters long and was always available for use unless a class was being held in it.
We stayed in one of the rooms downstairs which featured a king-sized bed and two double-sized beds. The sink, shower, and toilet are separate which worked well for us. The room was full of rustic charm and was appointed with Mexican folkloric paintings of animals. The mini-fridge and thorough daily cleaning service were additional welcome touches. Since Xquenda Spa only has six rooms for lodging, it never feels overrun; on the contrary, our entire stay was imbued with tranquility and bliss.
While there is not a restaurant on the grounds, the onsite kitchen offers breakfast daily for 100 pesos per person. The cook prepared anything we wanted to order--scrambled eggs, bacon, huevos rancheros, omelets, etc. They also provided juice, coffee, and fresh fruit.
We also found the location to be very convenient. The spa is basically on Playa Chahue and is walking distance to Chedraui, the large supermarket. One can even walk to La Crucecita as we did on several occasions. On the other hand, a taxi to La Crucecita cost us 30 pesos and one to Playa La Entrega was 60 pesos.
Above all, though, what makes Xquenda Spa truly special is the staff. Barbara and Felipe were always welcoming, friendly, and full of knowledge. The cleaning ladies and kitchen staff were kind and understanding as well, and the massage staff is talented. I had one of the best massages + facials while I was there. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Xquenda Spa!
Fidel & Barbara have created an absolutely delightful inn - exquisite architecture, clean and well maintained facilities, and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We recommend reserving a room on the second level for a beautiful view overlooking the park and Chahue Bay.
