Lovely B&B. Very welcoming and bubbly hostess, even with our late arrival and through the wrong door (didn’t fully read b&b info in advance!). Stayed in the double room with huge en-suite. Very comfortable bed, lovely linen and towels. Plenty of toiletries if forget your own and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Great location, no need to drive anywhere on a weekend visit. Walks along the coastal path, swimming at dancing ledge or winspit. The fantastic Square & compass pub close by for entertainment or even closer the Kings arms for drinks and pub grub. I’ve camped a few times in the area, it’s this b&b for me from now on!
We stopped at Maycroft for two nights on our trip to Cornwall. The view from our room onto the sea and the warm hospitality of Janet and Erik made our stay memorable.
Along with serving the rich breakfast Janet provided us with a number of recommendations for places to visit.
We enjoyed our short stay and do clearly recommend the Maycroft especially for couples like us (50+)
My friend and I stayed at Maycroft for 3 nights, perfect location for a wedding gathering at Worth Matravers just a couple of miles away. We had our own very comfortable rooms and shared a bathroom - beautiful views from the bedrooms, extremely comfortable beds and everything we needed in the rooms. Breakfast was delicious - lovely full English breakfasts, fruit and cereals as well, and gorgeous home made jam and local honey... We ate at the local pub, the Kings Arms, on two occasions and enjoyed two lively nights and good pub food. Janet at Maycroft is very welcoming and helpful and there is a lovely easy-going feel about the B&B. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Me and the Memsahib stayed here for a couple of days as we were doing a photography weekend in the area. Very comfortable two-night stay in large well-furnished bedroom with extremely comfortable bed. I'm not a good sleeper and I was tempted to dismantle the bed and mattress and load it into the car when we went - it was that comfortable! Bathroom was large and lovely big bath with huge towels provided. Janet was very welcoming and affable and cooked a wicked breakfast to set us up for the day - bacon, sausages, eggs . . . the full Monty. Oh - and if you love moggies you will love Dora who hopped in through the bathroom window and wanted to be let out the bedroom . . . lovely cat. All in all a very good stay - and don't forget to try the King's Arms pub just down the road which is a quintessential English pub designed for quaffing pints of ale or cider. Thank you Janet and Erik - we enjoyed our brief stay with you.
We had a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom - big, comfortable double bed, and very spacious bathroom with bath/shower. Delightfully period features in a Victorian house, and everything we needed for an overnight stay, including tea and coffee (with fresh milk), hairdryer, radio and TV, large built-in wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, and piles of books to read. Breakfast was wonderful - cereal, yoghurt with fresh fruit, toast (and home-made jam), and a perfect full English (bacon, sausage, egg, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms). Janet was very welcoming (as was her husband) and keen to share information about the area - walks, places to eat, new attractions we hadn't heard about. The setting of Maycroft is delightful - sea view and a beautifully kept garden - and it's easy to park right outside the house. It really did feel like staying with old friends - relaxed, comfortable and friendly.
