Our first trip away since lockdown. From the photos this looks a lovely hotel. As this was a very last minute booking we arrived late at night. Checked in at reception OK and directed to our family room. It is the first hotel I have stayed in that has no carpet on the corridor leading to our room, although there were carpet grippers down, and was surprised to find no carpet in our room. Room seemed clean although the room looked dated and the bottom of both beds were all frayed. I decided we must be in an area that was about to be refurbished. The shower was almost non existsnt. Overall the room seemed clean. My daughter spotted something large and black on the floor in the morning, when we looked closer it looked to be a large beetle on its back. We turned it over and it scuttled off under the single bed.
Another appeared from under the drawers. As they were so big we took photos and on checking out we informed the receptionist and showed her the pictures. We then emailed photos with details to the hotel. No response received, we have made a few phone calls to speak to a manager who is never on duty. My daughter was told that it was more than his pay rate to deal with our complaint. I was told that delay to replying was due to large number of emails regarding wedding cancellations. They seemed to think that was more important. We showed our photos to friends and a few said they could be cockroaches, I have never seen one so I wouldn't know. Sadly as I was getting no response from the hotel I decided to inform Environmental Health, they were going to send someone out. Still no response from the hotel to our original email and 3 phone calls over a two week period. It is the non existsnt customer service and their obvious lack of concern regarding our complaint that has upset us more than sharing our room with uninvited guests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Nice location very quiet. Food portion sizes were good and the room service was quick. The hotel would benefit from a deep clean and all over painting as it looked grubby in places and dark. The bedroom rug needed a deep clean as it had a few stains on it. Beds were comfortable and soft, we slept well.Had to ask for toilet roll as we only had a quarter in the bathroom and more t bags and milk.
Upon booking on the internet we had the option to add breakfast upon arrival... But arriving we were told breakfast was not served at the weekend!?! We were pointed in the direction of the local mcdonalds and Cafe instead!! Very disappointed and surprised to say the least. The hotel did apologise and gave a reason... although this made no difference as we still had to find breakfast every morning.
For this reason we will not be returning to this hotel again, looks like it's back to the premier inn for us next time we have a long weekend away.
I would give this a zero if I could.
The outside of the hotel looked fine, reception area was pretty good too.
But then I arrived to the room with my partner, first thing we see is a big cockroach on the floor. Rooms are very dated, old and dirty. Did not use the shower as would have felt dirtier. Even felt uncomfortable using the toilet. Just seem to be grime and mould everywhere. I can't believe they would even let you stay in these rooms.
Around 01:30am in the morning the fire alarm started going off, went into the corridor, you could smell someone was smoking in their room. A man came out his room and started saying he was only making a brew.
During the night we heard a couple arguing in a room nearby. Worst nights sleep possible. The pillows are flatter than a pancake, had to use my hoodie as didn't fancy putting my face on their bedding.
Avoid at all costs. Awful
I’ve stopped here a couple of times now and the rooms are very hit and miss, my most recent stay I stopped in a twin room (601) which was lovely although before I’ve stopped in a room that was very dated and extremely warm.
The Bar area is very nice but service can be a bit slow, we ate and the restaurant and the food was lovely.
The biggest let down of the hotel seems to be the competency of the staff, during our stay we heard other guests complaining about about not having a bottom sheet on their bed, another person complaining his burger had come out 20minutes before his wife’s and people having trouble checking in when they’d booked online.
Overall I’d say it is fine for a work trip but it’s not somewhere I’d take my partner for a romantic get away.
Chicken curry, chicken rock hard and naan bread is tiny.
Breakfast, sausages are tasteless and bacon very salty.
Glad I'm not paying for it.
2 lads on next table sent food back as it was cold.
