From the moment I arrived I realized I was in for a nightmare. The tiny parking area strewn with plastic bags that no-one bothered to remove during my 5 day stay. No one to answer the doorbell, but an almost invisible pencilled telephone number to ring for an access code to get in. Once in the house, there was no one in reception or even a reception at all.
My room on the ground floor had an unmade bed and no working radiator(it was snowing outside!) one flimsy central ceiling light and a bed side little light which didn’t work. The duvet had no cover and had a wide yellow sweat stain all down the middle. The only heater was the size of a cornflakes box and that was it. There was no en-suite bathroom in the room. The bathroom was instead in the corridor without any sign to indicate that it was reserved for my room. The bathroom had no heater at all, and the shower was swathed in industrial tape becouse it was leaking.
Undressing in the cold room was a nightmare . The bathroom door for some extraordinary reason had no handle from the inside so to exit the bathroom I had to place a finger Inside the hole where the handle should have been and pulled.
I was in this awful place for 5 days, and during this time no one came to make the bed or hoover the room or empty the microscopic rubbish bin or clean the bathroom.
In those 5 days I only saw one person who came when I called on arrival to make the bed and place toilet paper in the bath room.
The whole experience was awful. Never again.
My wife and I paid £200 for one night for the Calcutta cup game, we were done. No staff on site, no hot water in the sink, we didn't try the shower, see attached photos. No central heating and the main bedroom window would not close. The owners left a fan heater which was something at least but some sockets were out of service and we were reluctant to use the available ones but it was that or freeze. A missing battery in the TV remote added to the general feeling of crapness. The most worrying thing was seeing some repair work on the skirting boards and my wife swore she heard something scampering in the night so draw your own conclusions there. I know it's difficult running a small business but at least try to make a go of it. Nothing else to say really except that you have been warned! 🤬
Absolutely disappointed! It shouldn't matter what price is paid for a room, surely standards are compulsory? Obvious flood damage on the bottom of door and carpet,mould all around bottom of bedroom window(surely not healthy,especially in renting rooms out?) No spoons or milk for making a coffee.Socket was worryingly hanging off the wall!! I spoke to a couple staying in the room next to us, they hadn't had clean towels for 3 days, maybe acceptable if there was actually any sort of heating in the building but heating was not on once!! I slept in my jumper! BOLTIC is an understatement! I would not recommend this run down,uncared for place!!! Appauling accommodation!!!
We arrived to find the double room we had booked for a romantic weekend and pwhich we had paid for in full in advance had been given to another customer who had arrived before us and had 'wanted an upgrade'.
We were offered a hovel of a dirty, dingy room in the basement which was utterly disgusting and unsafe. The carpet was manky, the radiator leaking, the paper was hanging of the wall in the disgusting bathroom and there was aa huge crack the length of the bathroom floor which would have caused significant risk of cuts/trips, the bedsheets were scruffy and unclean looking
Suffice to say we could not accept this disgusting offer and we had to make alternative arrangements and find another hotel at late notice and at our own considerable expense.
What happened next was even more appalling and a clear measure of how despicable these people are. The attitude of the staff was disgusting. The management refused to take calls or to respond to emails. The excuse that they gave for refusing our refund was we 'hadn't checked in by a certain time (we arrived at 6:30pm and had booked for the room and paid for it in advance) they offered our room to another guest. Booking.com have been no help (I will never use booking.com again either because they have been no help and always side with the rogue traders they work with, equally disgusting organisation) saying we have to deal directly with the Hotel, despite the fact our transaction was with Booking.com - do not trust them to act in the interests of customers - they won't and they are very condescending and obnoxious with no customer service skills.
The management of the hotel take a bury their head in the sand approach - avoidance to make the issue go away. It won't be, this will go to court with costs being passed onto them. The owners/managers of this hotel are vile people and rogue traders. Don't stay in this hotel even as a last resort. it is disgusting.
Other factors - They claim to offer parking - they don't. The noise from Corstorphine Road (one of the busiest roads in the city) is loud due to the low quality windows they have installed. If you do have any problems or complaints, you have no chance of these vile people being remotely reasonable.
Definitely not as bad as the reviews!! Room is spotless and bed is comfy .we arrived late and phoned for the code no bother. Really reasonably priced , we will back. Good location. Only downside for me is the lack of pillows
