We have recently come back from a night stay at the Niu Loom, the overall experience was ok, staff seemed friendly, hotel is clean and presentable although when arriving home had a phone call from the hotel regarding the ‘toys’ in the room and that we owe money for the Sudoku book which has been taken.
I’m sorry but I do not know how to play sudoku, why would I take the book home with me?
Literally couldn’t fault the hotel from
Arrival to departure - an amazing very modern hotel the staff made us feel like friends from the moment we walked through the door, we had a very attentive check in and our room was lovely we did have a slight snagging issue as the wind was really high and had caused something to come loose at front of the hotel we were immediately moved and staff couldn’t apologise enough it really didn’t cause any inconvenience to us and it was all very smooth. Lovely breakfast and we had a drink in the bar and again staff were lovely. It’s a few minute walk to queens road tram stop taking you direct into the centre so a perfect location really
My wife and I stayed at The Niu Loom for three nights. Upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who checked us in to our room on the 3rd floor.
The room itself was great and had more or less everything we required. More space would have been a bonus but as we were out for most of our stay, this wasn't a major problem.
The ensuite shower was clean and sufficient in size. However, we did notice a problem with the water pressure which was a little annoying as it took longer than normal to have a shower. I am assuming the hotel has a gravity based shower system so that the lower in the hotel you are, the better the water pressure?
Anyway, I did raise the problem with maintenance and they came almost immediately to investigate. They checked everything and assured me that all was in working order. Again, this wasn't a major problem but it would have been nice to have had a shower with high pressure.
In terms of the restaurant, we ate breakfast on one occasion just to see what it was like. Surprisingly, we were the only guests who were seated at 9.30am on a Friday! The breakfast options were good and I was particularly happy to see hot pancakes were available!
The car park was spacious and we never experienced any issues with parking on any of our nights.
I would definitely book this hotel again as it offers everything you need, the staff are all very friendly and super helpful and best of all, it is very reasonably priced.
Lovely new hotel with very friendly staff - just a couple of teething problems to sort out.
Rooms are not huge but are very nice. No sockets next to the mirror which was a bit of a pain for blow-drying your hair. Initially, we thought twin single duvets on a double bed was a bit strange but it actually works quite well! Games in the room are a nice touch.
Brilliant idea to leave the “don’t bother to clean my room” tag on the door & get a free drink at the bar.
We loved the concept of having one communal area for everything (bar, restaurant, reception etc). There was a great atmosphere.
Slightly out of town, but this worked well as the tram stop was a 5 minute walk and only one stop from the centre of Manchester. We parked the car (lots of parking spaces), paid the £5 per night charge then used the tram all weekend (£6.80 for a weekend all zone pass).
Only negative was that the toilet didn't flush properly. To be fair the staff offered to move us to a different room, but we checked & that toilet had the same issue!
Rooms are rather small but adequate for a nights stay. Clean and tidy room and a shower which was pretty good. No tea coffee making facilities which was a surprise but you can go downstairs to bring this up if you’re really wanting a hot drink.
Staff friendly and the breakfast choice was great. Pancakes were particularly good! You do have to pay extra for the car park on top of your room charge but on the plus side there are multiple spaces so parkings no issue. The tram is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and Piccadilly is one stop away so if you’re wanting a night out you can do so quite easily.
