We stayed for 4 nights in August. We had a room with a double bed and a sofa bed for our daughter. Room was very quiet, no street noise. Not much space when sofa bed folded out, but adequate. There was a fridge and a kettle, a small amount of storage space, bathroom had a decent shower, no bath. Fairly basic room but clean and comfortable. The pool was very nice, the hotel was operating a booking system on it because of Covid, you could book a 2 hour slot. 2 hours in the Marseille summer sun was plenty! The hotel is a half hour drive from the airport, the taxi cost about 50 euros. The train station is a half hour walk away, there are quite a lot of steps by the station. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the bars and restaurants of the old port, there are one or two places close to the hotel to have a drink, and we found a nice restaurant out of the tourist area not too far away, Chez Marinette. The park next to the hotel is very nice, lovely views and good for a picnic. There is a big Carrefour 5 minutes walk away, also the beach is 5-10 minutes away. Marseille was very very busy during our stay and although we liked the city very much we would probably choose a quieter time of year to visit next time. Apparently June and September are the best times. We would stay here again if we came back to Marseille.
We found this Novotel little industrial and in need of a bit of modernising, but not a bad place to stay.
The view of the Old Port from the hotel’s terrace is lovely, and the kids enjoyed the heated outdoor hotel pool.
Staff were friendly, and hotel was well located. Good for a short break, but I wouldn’t want to spend too long there.
I had originally booked the NH Collection but changed the booking due to the staff protests. This turned out to be a very good decision as the Novotel was in a much nicer location and had the advantage of a swimming pool.
Check in was smooth and we were advised that we could use a different card or cash to settle the bill & that the preauthorisation would be cancelled if that were the case. As I was using a Travel Card for payment this was ideal as I have previously had to chase the cancellation of preauthorisations - well done Novotel!
Our triple room was on the ground floor near reception. It was a double room with double sofa bed which suited our family. It was fairly basic but clean, comfortable and so quiet - we slept incredibly well.
Breakfast was good with the dining room having a fabulous view across Vieux Port.
The pool was lovely and there were always plenty on sun beds available. Quality pool towels are provided.
The location is great with plenty of restaurants within easy reach.
All the staff were courteous and helpful and I would happily stay here again.
We have experienced that the standard in France is quite a bit lower than in some other European countries. However, the kindness of the staff and the terrace with very nice view AND swimming pool make it worth while.
Stayed there for 1 night with family following a cruise. Hotel staff were fantastic and really helpful, especially with sorting out a problem with a taxi and looking after luggage etc.
Nice breakfast and lovely pool plus only a short walk to beach and restaurants in Vieux Port. I would have given it 5 stars if the rooms had been refurbished which are getting a bit tired. Nice size family rooms though.
