The Renaissance Naples is in an excellent location. Near Lombardi Subway, old town and the famous night market street. Service is good. Room was clean. As expected, not great.
+ Gym: a high quality large and spacious membership gym in the building. (Although the entrance is next door)
+ Breakfast: rooftop view is spectacular, food is average.
- rooms seems dated
- many rooms don’t have a view
- no lounge or ‘extras’ for Bonvoy elite members, I expect more for Titanium status than a 8eu coupon
Terrific, professional staff EVERYWHERE. Great room with one of those unbelievable views of the Bay of Naples and Mt, Vesuvius you see on postcards. A spectacular setting for breakfast with an amazing selection of savory and sweet choices including fresh fruit juices, smoothies, and bakery treats, A terrific location within an easy walk of the shopping district as well as the historic center. Toss in free access to an amazing gym next door, a great modern supermarket less than 5 minutes away, and numerous and delicious Neapolitan style pizzerias and street food and this solo traveler could not have been happier.
I am still trying to figure out how this property has a Renaissance badge. i have been in mid-level Four points and Courtyards that had better amenities.
With over 1800 nights in combined Marriott and Starwood stays, this is only the 2nd time that I have seen a property that is so off-badge/brand.
I am convinced that the owners had a team of lawyers parsing the branding agreement to devise a list of the bare minimum that they could offer.
Here are the facts:
Staff Vibe - I got the feeling from many (Not all!!) of the staff members that they were doing us a favor by "allowing" us to say at the hotel. No "thank you for being a Bonvoy member " (highest level) when arriving and "how was your stay" when leaving.
The room- small and tired - We knew that the rooms were small when we booked so it's our bad
NO WATER in the room - this is the ONLY Marriott property that have stayed in that didn't have at least 1 bottle of water
NO TISSUES in the bathroom - probably because there was no room for tissue box holder.
Miserable coffee service - a fast boiler, a few packets of instant coffee and 2 paper cups- enjoy - not!!
No newspapers other than the lobby copies
Ran out of adaptors -Not a problem since there was only 1 usable outlet plus a USB charging port in a usable position in the room
Mediocre breakfast - what made the situation worse is when they told me that I had to pay extra for a spoonful of hot-table scrambled eggs. At that point, I left and went across the street for a proper coffee and pastry
Noisy!! The hotel has wood floors so if the person in the room on top of yours is wearing heels, you hear it. You also clearly hear your next door "neighbor'". The walls per se are fine but the back wall of the closets are poorly insulated so you hear everything
Antiquated HVAC with no refrigeration component and that makes the room difficult if not impossible to cool down. This is a problem even in the winter as the room air gets stale and the street noise makes it impossible to open the window - I don't want to think what it's like during the hot summer. However, I read where they do offer fans.....
Incorrect point transfer - I got credit for appx $46 instead of the $1600 that I actually paid - figures!! It will get straightened out by why should I spend my time policing this and getting it corrected
This is a property that a Bonvoy member should go to only if they need the night credits to hit a target status level.
We (3 couples) spent 4 nights in Renaissance Naples hotel starting 11/20/2019 and did have few issues.
1. In my room the shower didn’t drain well, and ~ 10 liters of water in the tub have been left for 1 hour.
2. The air conditioning in my and our friends room didn’t work.
It was extremely hot and we couldn’t sleep at night in both rooms. We did bring this to the hotel’s attention. They brought a huge fan in one of the room and opened the window (which create a significant noise from the street during the night). During our entire stay it have not been fixed.
3. The third room had an issue with the door lock. They spent 3X time ~20 minutes near their room door till the concierge send the technician.). The lock problem has not been fixed.
I discussed all the issues with hotel front desk person Marina. She told me that she is sorry and she offered me a drink in the bar (!!!)
The hotel really decayed our vacation and is misbranded as a Renaissance, and it should not be one of Marriott’s more premium brands.
The location of the hotel is perfect: 3 minutes from the Metro station Municipio and 10 minutes from the port Molo Beverello. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants in a walking distance to the hotel. There are also some important tourist attractions near the hotel. The hotel has a nice roof terrace on the 11th floor where you can enjoy the breakfast looking over the city. The breakfast is ok, as you have some good options for all the tastes. The room was very clean with a big comfortable bad. Very friendly staff at the entrance to open the door or help with baggage. The personnel at the reception was not too friendly and helpful.
