The hotel was just a 5 min walk from the s. Giovanni train station and 10 min walk from the city centre. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They gave us an early check in. There was no air conditioning in the room though. That was the only drawback. The room was very clean, modern and spacious. The breakfast was also pretty good.
Had a single room so it was small one! Bathroom was good and clean. Water worked! Heater worked. Breakfast was decent and the front office was warm and smiling. Overall I like the place. Value for money!
I reserved this hotel even it didn't have very good reviews. We didn't feel sorry for a minute. The location was good, only ten minutes from the very center. The room was nice, and clean. The breakfast was good. What impressed us is a stuff. Everybody tried to help. Especially nice was Jessica, she spent so much time with us. So only good memories.
The Continental is a typical Italian hotel.Staff are fantastic I really mean that. Continental breakfast is excellent with an excellent range of food.
Rooms are small, clean but dated. The whole hotel could do with a good refurbishment.
My room had water dripping from the ceiling was moved without any fuss to the 6th floor at which point the lift failed for 48 hours. It's 122 stairs each way which I found demanding at 76 years old.
Things do happen in life BUT I do feel it should have been repaired much quicker.
I enjoyed my stay in Como
Hotel is on a main road so noisy at the front. It's frontage is austere and the immediate area is poorly paved. . Handy for the main railway station. Supermarket nearby but no eating facilities in the room. Short walk into old town for many good restaurants. Stayed here many times as part of a Motorsport group. No special treatment. It's always been clean but tired. In July 2018 it's become part of the BB French owned group and has lost more than it has gained. Still same old carpets and fittings. Television, hair drier in bathroom provided, same old beds but clean linen and towels. Have to ask for more pillows and covers. Safes are in the room but having seen a whole safe stolen from one room your treasure is best stored elsewhere. No tray with kettle and cups anymore. The only source of hot drinks is a machine in reception; €1 when it is working; it was broke for days and there was no alternative source of hot drinks. Our small fridge in the room was not working for days. Room was kept clean by pleasant staff. Reasonable shower over the bath and hot water ( separate shower cubicles are antique, far too small and difficult to use). The ancient air conditioning system is very noisy and a mystery to control.
Breakfast is a travesty. Trays are now provided so you can collect your own dishes at the end and slide the tray in noisy metal holders. There is no logic to the layout; there are now no bowls of grapefruit or similar to add to the cheapest cereals. scrambled egg appears to be made in one 7am batch accompanied by lukewarm German sausage. There is ham and cheese slices. Various breads and sweet cake. The toaster is slow and needs two efforts to get brown toast. The new coffee machine has small cups and espresso ones. Jams come in large jars. The limited staff do their best. The dining room has been "cleaned up" and is a soulless chamber of clatter. The new staff at reception emphasised the hotel is cheap- but no comparison to the facilities and breakfast the UK budget hotels. The new staff on reception seem to work long hours. They did warm to us over the days, however some need further training on customer care! The hotel lobby area is clean with some seating; no papers or brochures and no bar. This hotel needs a serious makeover.
