A very impressive hotel at 1 of the most beautiful lakes of Italy. The area is gorgeous.
We had a room at the front, huge and comfortable. Extremely surprised of the unfriendly staff of the hotel.
Normally they ry to support you with everything. Even a request to the servicedesk was not answered.
The hotel is located in Stresa with lots of little boutique shops and places to eat overlooking Lake Maggiore. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They gave us a brief tour of the historic hotel and then took us to our room with a lake view and small patio on the 2nd floor. They told us it’s available and we didn’t have to pay for upgrade to which we were very happy. The room is clean, accommodates two people with a good size bathroom; towels changed daily, bed was comfortable. The Victorian decor and antiques highlights the hotel with a luxurious ambiance. The breakfast selections were great with lots of varieties to choose from. We booked their special dinner and the food was very good. We walked along the lakefront and enjoyed the beautiful town and the lake view. Their great service and professionalism makes this hotel the place to a perfect R&R.
We spent one night here on our recent visit and will look forward to coming back. The hotel is filled with artwork and antiques. We had a beautiful room facing the lake. The full breakfast was outstanding. There is some road noise as the location is on the main street. We did use the spa and although the sauna and steam room were usable, the whirlpool was not working. We were told that the hotel is closing for a few months for an upgrade.
We spent our last night in the region here and were surprised with an upgrade, a beautiful room overlooking the lake, the reception personnel were a delight and made our welcome really special. The restaurant staff were ultra professional and food superb. Breakfast was epic! We will certainly be back as soon as we can squeeze another trip in. Thank you especially to the young lady who showed us around the hotel and to our room, one of the warmest welcomes we can remember.
This is a well run, well staffed, and stunningly beautiful hotel, packed with antiques, gorgeous furniture, and paintings. It also commands a great location looking out at the lake. The main downsides are a) it is severely overheated and no AC is available after an arbitrary cutoff date, We left both of our balcony doors open 24 hours a day, closed off all heat, and still baked in our room. b) The hotel is on the main drag and close to the lake, so there is constant noisy road and boat traffic. Combined with a), very uncomfortable. c) The dining room is beautiful, but the food is stodgy and very expensive.
