Wow wow wow!! I stayed here for 2 nights with my parents and we cannot stop talking about it!! It was the BEST experience. I miss it!! First of all, Donatella is a wonderful, intelligent, kind, and genuine hostess. She has that rare quality where it feels like you've known her forever. I mean seriously, it felt like I was visiting my aunt at her gorgeous home. That is the thing, it feels like home!! When we arrived in the middle of the day, Donatella welcomed us as if we have been friends our whole lives. She was so caring about my parents which meant so much to me because I had planned this trip at the last minute for them!! She made us tea and sat with us and gave us advice on where to go and what to do. Since there were three of us, I had booked us the top room. There are some stairs to go up to the top room, but Donatella noticed my parents are elderly and have a hard time with stairs so she was kind enough to give us a room on the main level so my parents wouldn't have to go up the stairs! And then she gave me my own room because it happened to be available!! HOW PERFECT AND KIND!!! The breakfast was straight out of a movie...a gorgeous setting with homemade treats and yumminess!!! The rooms are ADORABLE. It feels like you are in a country cottage, but you are really just right outside of the city! And the neighborhood is so quaint and cute and has the BEST restaurants. Donatella sent us off with treats and warm hugs. I miss her!! And I will definitely come back!! Stay here if you want to be in a perfect, magical, beautiful place with a down-to-earth homey vibe!! Ci Vediamo!!

We loved the B&B Monte Oliveto! Marta brought so much more to the experience than just a place to stay. My husband and I enjoyed having breakfast with other guests in the morning, we valued Marta's wisdom about how to spend our time, and we loved the location. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the beautiful neighborhood along our journey. Marta went above and beyond by being very attentive to our every need, plus she went out of her way to fix a problem I created when I left my purse upon our departure. The room was just right, we wanted the attached bathroom, the balcony was perfect and the air conditioning was greatly valued. We have been blessed to travel to many international cities and have enjoyed different experiences of chain hotels, B&Bs and boutique hotels. Marta's story and her place was one of the very bests!! Best wishes for a great trip!!

This was our first experience with a B&B and it was definitely a good one.
Donatella was such a perfect hostess. She met us when we arrived and offered us help with luggage and something to drink. She showed us our room and how to work things. She booked taxi cabs and since quite a few of our tours were early morning she had breakfast to go. She made a beautiful, organic breakfast on our last day. It was so hospitable and made our stay in Florence so warm feeling. She even sat with us and showed us where our tours were meeting on a map and gave us some wonderful restaurants to visit.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because being tall the upstairs bathroom didn’t have a shower so attempting to sit on a foot stool in a bathtub to shower was challenging and quite messy. She did allow us to use the 2nd level shower which was great.
The upstairs does get warm so we had to run the AC often just to cool it down to comfortable and kept the curtains closed.
Just note that due to the angle of the roof it gets a bit tight with head room.

It is located in an area that has a lot of great restaurants and away from the crowds and noise.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit and stay here again if we ever make it back.

In a beautiful authentic area of the city of Florence south of the river, surrounded by cafes and restaurants where the locals go, and a short pleasant flat 10 minute walk from the historic centre, we can’t recommed Marta’s hospitality enough. The B&B is a tall old style town house, very quiet and shady, with a breakfast room / lounge, a terrace front and back, with a variety of beautiful rooms available at good prices. The host pulls up the beds and cleans the bathroom daily and the breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. The real plus is her local knowledge and recommendations of the best cafes, frescos and gelato at local, not tourist, prices - which gave us the edge and far better quality and insight into the ‘real’ Florence.

This B&B was a great choice and would recommend to anyone. Marta and her mum are great hosts, very attentive and full of brilliant recommendations for visits, restaurants and bars. It is in a very quiet street, walking distance to the centre. You can also easily get a Mobike nearby if you prefer cycling around. The room (top floor studio) was very spacious, clean and cool (thanks to the AC). Breakfast was very healthy, fresh and served outside. We had a car and easily parked in the street outside. There was so much to see in Florence that we'll need to come back and we'll definitely stay at Monte Oliveto again! 5* !

Questions & answers about the rooms

How many floors and is the room with the green headboard bed on an upper floor?
Probably too late now, but the Wisteria room is on what you would call the second floor. There are 3 floors where the guests are either accommodated or fed. The entrance is up some flights of steps.
