Family run hotel with amazing food.
We stayed here for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant each evening. The onion tart tatin was to die for.
The family were lovely and made our stay very relaxing.
Beautiful swimming pool but lots of mosquitoes so don’t forgot your repellent.
Agriturismo very near to San Gimignano. Wonderful views from afar especially the lights at night from a garden off the driveway entrance. Beautifully restored brick farmhouse type building. Exposed beams, wood floors, shuttered windows overlooking vineyard, some with private patios. Common patio area with wine, saffron olive oil produced on their farms. Nice pool area that is lighted with changing colored lights at night. Tasty dining room with covered outside or inside seating and DELICIOUS MENU. Roberto, his sons (chef), daughter and daughter in law, wife, mother and Amelia-granddaughter ....made you feel like family, warm and welcoming. Well located to explore the area- Rt. 222- Chianianna HWY, Volterra (DRIVE!!!!) and San Gimignano. Not far from Florence.
We recently spent five nights at Casanova Di Pescille. What a joy! Set in a gorgeous rural location surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, we were easily able to visit numerous Tuscan highlights including San Gimignano (just on the doorstep), Florence and Sienna which were both easily accessible by train from nearby Poggibonsi. All safe in the knowledge that we could just drop in a pool at the end of a hot day’s sight-seeing!
Casanova Di Pescille offers clean and comfortable rooms, a great on-site restaurant with a clever contemporary Italian menu (purple gnocchi and spinach with truffle oil spaghetti among our favourites) and warm and thoughtful hosting by owners and staff (thank you again for letting us watch the England match on the big TV!).
This was our first visit to Tuscany. I am sure we will be back and it would be nice to think that we might return to Casanova Di Pescille.
Friends recommended we stay in the San Gimignano area...we were looking for somewhere in Tuscany in the countryside and had heard about the Agriturismo culture and decided that is where we wanted to stay. I found Casanova do Pescille on Trip Advisor and all I will say is STOP your searching now. This place is family run and you feel like part of the family. It’s an old converted farmhouse so there’s an incredible amount of character to each room as well as the grounds. It’s conveniently located close to town (about 10 min drive at most) but far enough away that you feel like it’s an escape. In the hot summer months the pool is a refreshing beacon whether you’re lounging all day by the hillside or returning from an excursion elsewhere. The restaurant Zafarrano is wonderful. Fresh pasta and a very creative menu. Their complimentary breakfast had a great selection and was a perfect way to start your day. As an Agriturismo they make their own olive oil, honey, saffron and wine (and sell it there too) which is great. We stayed three nights, but wish we could have stayed longer! Would definitely go back if we were to visit the area again!
We stayed here at the end of May for a week and used as a base to explore the region. San Gimignano is gorgeous and we went back a few times, as well as taking the train to Florence for the day (it was easy to drive to Poggibonsi) as well as visiting Volterra, Sienna and a couple of other smaller hilltop villages. Everywhere was easy to get to and the hotel itself was perfectly located in gorgeous scenery, among vineyards and olive groves with views across to San Gimignano.
Our room (6) was a good size, simply and traditionally furnished with a nice bathroom - if you want real Tuscan character and charm you won't go wrong.
The family run feels was lovely - not intrusive but we felt very well looked after and there was always someone around when needed but we felt very at home and spent most late afternoons relaxing by the pool which was cold but refreshing!
We would definately go back and highly recommend for a fantastic base with great facilities (including a fantastic restaurant), a warm welcome and scenic surroundings.
