This agriturismo is a gem. Hospitality is great. Area is huge. Loved the horses and pool. The surroundings are peaceful and wonderful. Few minutes away from Siena. Two good nearby restaurants. The only negative commemt is that yhere is no wifi in rooms.

On our recent family vacation with our teenage son we had anticipated a quaint agriturismo in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Instead we found a tired horse farm with spare amenities. We met Mario the owner when we checked in but he pretty much disappeared after that. The apartment was dim, no air conditioning and 10 yards from the hay barn -- OK if you like flies. The pool is surrounded by excess, rusted farm gear and was full of dead flies. On a positive nite, the breakfast was decent enough.

Fortunately, La Selva is located just 5 km. from Siena - a marvelous city - where we spent most of our time.

La Selva is picturesque; it's all about watching swallows dive and enjoying the countryside. I watched my best Italian sunrise from one of the great bedrooms, with windows wide. The pool is a gem & breakfast is perfect. It is hot, so if you require AC to sleep, La Selva may not be for you. We had a great stay, if you hire a car and have small children, it's fantastic.

We stayed for 3 nights to experience Tuscany. We absolutely loved it. Fresh air, open atmosphere, exteremely friendly hosts. Facilities are basic, but we love that. No fancy entertainment, wifi, bling or plasticness. Sitting on the verandah overlooking the Tuscan hills was very enjoyable. Silent nights with the odd horse snorting. Resting and rejuvinating - it really worked for us. Breakfast was really very good. Going places is a breeze: Siena, Montereggioni, San Gimgniano, Pisa, Lucca, Florence all within easy reach, whether you use the highway or the curvy country road (costing more time but worth the relaxation of the slow lane, enjoying the vistas and the countryside experiences and smells).
The venue was clean, more than sufficient, homely and a little old-school (we loved it). Service and support was VERY helpful with every request. Wifi only at the front of the property, (hmmmm) but this was not a serious problem. We could communicate with our home base. We Skyped in the garden (now we have jealous children). Pity that the swimming pool was closed, but I understand that in Italy "if the season is done, you close the swimmingpool" never mind the temperature.
What would we have wanted more of? Time to enjoy the place. We will be back in a flash if given the opportunity. We can honestly recommend this, if you love nature, rustic, relaxing, quiet, accessible holidays.
Thanks to Mario, Renata and the children for giving us a very enjoyable experience.

La Selva Agriturismo is a family affair, so with Mario, Renata, Marco and Nicola all taking care of their guests, you are guaranteed a wonderful experience! La Selva is a short 12 minute drive to Siena's city center; thus you have the best of two worlds - the cultural excitement of city life and the quaint quiet of the country all in one. Each day, after exhausting walking tours through Siena's marvelous cultural exhibits, we returned to our temporary home to enjoy cool dips in the pool and affordable bottles of wine, sometimes even a taste of Marco's cousin's chianti. La Selva is a modernized rustic retreat. The room in which we stayed is a part of a 1200 year old building; yet we enjoyed a private bath with a tub large enough to fit my 6' 2" husband!! BTW - in our experience at four facilities over two weeks in Tuscany, tubs are rare. At breakfast, which is included, we enjoyed giggling at the colts reluctantly trailing behind their mothers whom Nicola would lead to one of the many meadows surrounding the facility every morning. When considered that all this comes at an economic rate, we highly recommend La Selva!
