N47°33'10.601478" E7°34'52.147681" This B&B is located in a quiet residential area west of the city centre. It is a 5-10 minutes’ walk to the city centre and a short 30-minute transfer by public transport from the airport. At EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg, take bus 50 to bus stop Brausebad. From here, take tram 1 to stop Zoo Bachletten and enter Leimenstraße. With proof of reservation, public transport is free of charge.

Loredana (the owner) lives 800 meters from the B&B. She was waiting in front of her B&B. No AirBnB key codes by e-mail and a lonely folder to welcome you. Loredana took the time to explain the apartment (kitchen, television, Wi-Fi (good reception) and door locks). We received the BaselCards for free public transport and discounts on many museums. She has a collection of brochures from various museums and events on a table in the living room.

The apartment is an ordinary but large family apartment on the first floor (2F) with living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had the room with a double bed and a private bathroom. No hotel room with sofa, minibar and television. Only a bedroom. Everything we needed or else go to the living room. The other rooms share the second bathroom. The double bed had a single person duvet and slept a bid too hard to our taste. That is personal. We liked to sleep with open windows in this quiet neighbourhood.

The kitchen is fully equipped for those who want to cook for themselves (Basel restaurants can be expensive). For breakfast, Loredana stocked the refrigerator with juice, milk, eggs, butter and yoghurt. She left tea, croissants, fruit, cereal, honey and jam for breakfast the next morning. The Nespresso coffee was excellent. During our stay in September 2019, the other two rooms were available. With other guests, you have to plan the breakfast times.

We contacted the owner by e-mail and booked the room for 3 nights without using internet-booking agencies to avoid their fees. Compared to hotel prices in Basel, this B&B offered an affordable price in Basel, but still the hotel price level in Switzerland is above the average European level.

In September 2019, B&B Bouanonotte offered a quiet and affordable overnight stay in a well-equipped apartment just a 5-10 minutes’ walk from Basel's Altstadt.

Response from Loredana L, Proprietario at Bed and Breakfast Buonanotte
Responded 29 Nov 2019
Thank you very much for your lovely review! As you explained very well, in my accommodation there are (besides living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen): 1 double room with en-suite bathroom 2 single rooms who share one bathroom (with shower) Guests can just reserve a room (with breakfast) and maybe there are other guests in the apartment. Most of the time, however, they are alone (like you) and they do not meet other people. If somebody want to reserve like "apartment" and prefer to be alone, he has just to tell me. I will be glad to host again you in case you return to Basel

First, I would like to note that I agree with the other three recent review of this property. All were very accurate per our experience. Frau Lucci is just a wonderful hostess who goes out of her way to make sure that guests have a delightful stay.
The entire B and B is immaculate. The beds were comfortable, the common areas were comfortable and inviting. The tram stop was only 1 1/2 blocks away, and Frau Lucci was very helpful in helping us to navigate the city. The Basel Pass that comes with the suite allows one to travel all over Basel on the wonderful public transportation system day or night. No need for an auto, a taxi, etc.

I think that it is important for U.S. travelers to have realistic expectations. Many BandBs in the U.S. are old Victorian homes divided into suits. This is definitely an urban BandB -- a city apartment with three bedrooms. As flalo noted in his review, if others staying in the BandB come in late or are noisy, this could be a bit problematic. However, our BandB companion, was very private and quiet. I hope that we did not disturb him. Also the Swiss are more environmentally conscious than many Americans. They are aware of the adverse impact of air-conditioning. The tallest building in Basel is the Roche headquarters completed only several years ago. This building does not have air-conditioning and neither does the B&B. Since nights are mild for most of the year, this does not cause discomfort. Having the windows open at night was a treat. However, I suspect on the hottest of days, the suites could be a bit warm.

I noticed that two reviewers booked the entire apartment. This may be preferable for those who want more privacy. I guess this depends on one's travel budget. For us, we found the Bed and Breakfast Buonanotte to be a really good value in an expensive city. We travel to Basel fairly often, and have already chatted with Frau Lucci about staying next summer. l think that we won't even consider an alternative.

We took the full apartment (3 bedrooms) for 3 of us who were on a work trip to Basel. Loredana kindly allowed us use of the kitchen for self-catering, and was very generous with coffee, teas, hot chocolate and little chocolates for us to enjoy!
The beds are comfortable, the nights are quiet, and it is an easy walk to the theatre and town, during the fay or at night. We would happily come back, and Loredana was very helpful with information on trams, directions and how to get around the city.

During the artfair I had the opportunity to stay three nights at Loredana's apartment. Easy accessible with public transportation in a quiet neighborhood. I had a clean room with WLAN access and a window with a view to the backyard. Breakfast was ready in the morning, if necessary I could use the fridge or even cook.
I had to share the bathroom with an other person which was not a problem. The only thing which I had trouble with was when other people came home late, one could easily hear everything.

I was very happy to find a room at this B&B, which is very central (2 bus stops from train station and walking distance from the old town) and very quiet. The owner is very nice and flexible. Large kitchen and well equipped. The guests make their own breakfast.
