I chose B&B Petit Paris based on the glorious reviews on booking.com . I was looking for a cozy place in the area to spend a weekend with a couple of friends. We stayed in the Deluxe suite. Biggest disappointment in all my years of travelling.

First NO - there is no breakfast, despite the place being a b&b and the description saying it is included.
Second NO - both rooms are in the basement, they have no natural light or fresh air. You get to them through a very narrow set of stairs, no other exit. The air is stuffy and humid, smells a bit like mold. The deluxe suite is at the main road.
Third NO - the boiler is in a closet in the room. In addition, you supposedly can cook in the room...Safety hazard in case of a fire.
Fourth NO - the bathroom is the size of a closet, tiniest space ever. Aaaand...there is no door to the toilet. You literally pee in the open room, 30cm away from the bed. This is so wrong on so many levels...It is uncomfortable, no privacy, unhealthy to sleep near a toilet.
Fifth NO - there are spider webs, even one hanging over the bed.
Sixth NO - they stopped the heating in the night, probably 0 degrees outside and freezing cold until early morning.
Seventh NO - the floors are so creaky! We live in London and are used to the noisy Victorian houses, this is a whole new level. Noise until 2 am, noise from 8 am. Basically 4-5 hours of sleep.

We paid 250 eur for 2 nights.
When we raised it with the owner that we cannot deal with the lack of a door at the toilet (some people really cannot use a toilet without being private), she ignored us completely.
We left after the first night, and moved to a decent hotel nearby that would have cost 10 EUR more for the two nights...so stupid of me.

This place should not be allowed to function.
It a safety and health hazard, dark and humid, not functional and expensive for what you get.

We booked this place thinking it was a hotel, actually it is a house and there are two rooms that can be rented, in the basement.
Our host, Dascha, was very kind and welcomed us in the most warming way. She made a list of places to go and set out some treats in are room for us, such as chocolates and coke, which we very much appreciated!!
The payment is cash only, which we did not know (booking informed us that cards were accepted), so we had a tough time to exchange our money. So if you do not have cash, this is a no go.
The check out is at 11am, and again booking had informed us it was at noon, but after talking a lot with our host, she let us stay until 2pm, so we could exchange money and pack up!!
The room is very cozy, with a great bed and linen, but very dark since it is a basement. We liked it, and found it different than a stay at a hotel. There is a little kitchen, where you can cook.
The place is near vondelpark, and in front there is a great place for breakfast (sooooo so good, and about 10 euros each plate - which is big). The B&B does not have breakfast so be sure to buy something or stop by somewhere to eat!!

We found our stay here to be absolutely faultless ! From the minute we arrived the owner dascha was not only friendly and welcoming but also a mine of information. The location of this b &b could not have been better its in a beautiful neibourhood with nice bars shops etc within easy walking distance.
The tram stops are a 2 min walk away as is the beautiful vondelpark. Negative reviews state about the darkness of the room, this for us Was part and parcel of staying in a beautiful old Dutch house and only added to the character of rooms.
Will definitely be returning to this little hidden gem in a quiet corner of an otherwise busy city .

If you want to experience Amsterdam away from the tourist areas, this is a great place to stay.
The room was lovely and the host was very helpful - take note of the areas to visit, definitely worth it.
The beautiful park which is only 5 minutes away is a great place to people watch and the area has a number of lovely cafes and bars, recommend Dignita for breakfast or lunch.
A 20 minute walk to the museums etc or a short tram ride. Would I stay here again - definitely!

Stayed here September, 2016. Chose this accommodation because the reviews were great. Did not realise that we would be staying in a dark, airless basement room with the only access via narrow, hard to negotiate stairs, The room had many lights but even with these on the lighting was poor and it was impossible to read. The noise from above was loud and as Dasha had given us much information on places to go. we spent as much time as possible out of our 'flat' as we could, The 'flat' was an OH&S nightmare as there was only one bad egress in case of a fire or other emergency. The stay in this dungeon was very expensive and was very dissa-
pointing. Can't understand why anyone would give this a positive review.
