My boyfriend and I were staying here for a Feb. city break and it was the perfect location with great views of the city.
Only thing I’d note on is it was quite cold in the room - it seemed that the heating wasn’t working. It was a little bit dirty in some places, and the room wasn’t very secure (quite easily unlocked without a key). Despite this, it’s a great place for a budget city break, there’s a well equipped kitchen too (we managed to gut and cook fresh fish!) and staff were equally pleasant and helpful. Overall, we were happy with our stay.
It is always though to judge cheap places as you should lower your expectations when praying a lower price. However, I slept in enough hostels and rooms in lisbon of this price category to know what you can expect.
The owners were kind to let me bring my luggage early. My opinion about them is a bit mixed as one of them can really be a bit harsh, but ok.
The hostel is next to metro/train/boat-station Cais do Sodré and therefore it has an excellent location. However, it is also on a square in the middle of a very busy area up till the early morning, especially in the weekend when I was there.
My small (single) room was clean but the smell of cigarettes was latently present. The rooms looks duff but again, ok. The bed was not the bed, but also not the worst. At night, you have two choices, as is so often the case in Lisboa, but here it was really extreme: or the window closed and melting away or the window open and having 80 decibel coming through. I chose the last option and thanked god for earplugs. Good Wifi present.
The bathrooms: same feeling. Clean enough and a good shower, that is what you expect so ok. The kitchen is small and like the whole floor a bit dark etc, but again, if you are here for a one night sleep it will work.
I had a lot of doubts to give this a 2 or 3 star judgement. In the end, 21 euro is not the cheapest either, but they scored just good enough on each aspect. For a cheap one night sleep as solo traveller on weekdays, it is ok. But make sure you bring earplugs or that you are very tired of drunk...
Nice guest house in very central location, really close to cais do sodre railway and metro station. I've been able to visit Lisbon by walk with no need to use the underground. The building has an amazing sea view and it's located in front of the square Duque da Terceira.
Its on the 4th floor with no lift. There is good wifi, a small kitchen with fridge, kettle and stuff for breakfast. The bathroom has good facilities like hairdrier and straightener. The room is old with old furnitures and to be honest it could be more clean. In summer is very hot and I tried to sleep with the windows open but it was very noisy outside. I really recommend it to young people who are looking for a cheap accommodation in a central location, without too much pretension.
This is a very good option if you are not going to spend too much time in the room. It is cheap and well located and does the basics right. The building is a bit old and tired but the apartment itself has its charm and they keep it nicely. There is no lift so consider this if carrying lots of luggage or if you have any special conditions. There is free wifi which worked pretty well all the time. The room was nice enough with a lovely view and it was warm and cosy for a winter night. It is not particularly noisy despite its busy location and the sleep quality was fine for us, although you may not be that lucky so bring earplugs I would recommend. There is a small but well equipped kitchen and you could perfectly cater for yourself if you wanted to, but there are so many restaurants around that it is not necessary. There is coffee and tea and kettles. There was a washing machine but I can't remember whether you had to pay to use it or how much it was. There were amenities in the bathroom such as hair dryer / hair straightener, which I found a nice touch. There is an emergency kit with painkillers, too. My only complaint is about the bathrooms, they could be slightly cleaner, especially the showers that seemed to be blocked. Also, I found out somebody was peeing in the sink which was extremely disgusting to realise as you might imagine, however I can't possibly know who it was but as the Pensao was fairly empty then I wish they could have kept it cleaner. Overall and despite that, it's a good option as it is cheap and well located and in general good. I'm between giving it an Average rating or a Very Good and I went with the Very Good as other options for the same price were not as good.
