Booked for 2 nights our first break for a long while due to the pandemic and looking after shielding parents. Wow what a good choice we made this hotel is AMAZING. The staff deserve a medal the best service we have ever had in a hotel and especially to Morag who made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Room was so lovely we could have moved in. And the food ... could not fault it. Compliments to the chef. And have to say the best steak and homemade chips we've had in a long time. All in all best Scarborough hotel we've been to and already planning our next visit. Not even checked out yet but so happy wanted to get this out. Love this place.
My husband and myself, plus Lulu, our little dog, stayed at The Crescent last week for 5 nights. We didn’t want to come home!
From the warm welcome we received to us leaving we couldn’t have asked for a better time. Yes things were a little different due to covid, but in no way did this detract from the service we received.
Our room was very comfy, a brand new bathroom with a jacuzzi bath plus walk in shower, which I need. Very quietly situated, and literally a 5 minute walk to the main shopping area.
Breakfast was hearty and filling, and the standard of the food was wonderful.
This may be a 3 star hotel, but believe me you get 5 star service. We’ve just booked to return!
We stayed in the Scarborough room in the ‘loft’ as recommended by hotel receptionist and it was dated dirty and dangerous. All windowsills had towels on them and when you lifted them up the windowsills were thick with dirt, old handles etc left on there. Woodwork peeling and old. Bad glazing...You can hear everything going on in streets (drunks and fighting when we stayed) mis match of dated furniture.
Tv on a table with lead stretching across room and Ariel lead left dangling. (Have to step across this to ‘The view out of window’)
The bed was almost a mattress slung on floor...literally about 14”high...and uncomfortable. This should be mentioned when booking as a lot of people would not be able to get in and out...better still just buy a proper bed. The sheets were ripped at the edges. Bathroom was large with a modern shower but incased in cheap surround which was too small for angle of shower head. It was broken around the base and stuck right out.
At the end of the day all we want (and should get) is a clean modern room, be able to have a hot shower and a comfortable bed with little noise so you can get a good nights sleep. None of this applied to this room, which you are charging over £130 a night for! We weren’t even left any water.
We did mention this to the staff who we found rather condescending. (The taller lady and a smaller older lady) she did send someone back to clean it but it was still not great. We saw the younger girl the following morning and explained we hadn’t slept all night as room noisy and bed uncomfortable and could not continue our stay as it was so awful, she apologised and asked me to send the pics to her for training etc. I would respectfully suggest the other ladies stopped being so defensive and learn a thing or too from her as she was more professional as you should expect in the hospitality business.
As guests we are the ones who stayed there and experienced it. Maybe they should stay there and then comment.
This is only a review on the Scarborough room and I’m sure and hope the other rooms are nicer.
Just had a one night stay at The Crescent Hotel. Well located. Staff were really helpful, pleasant and welcoming. It's a beautiful old building, and the room we stayed in was just lovely. I think because it's so old the sound proofing wasn't great though and we could hear next door's television over our own! The mattress was a bit on the hard side - but different people like different things. It was clean, but I fear not "COVID-clean". There was a blanket in the wardrobe that was just thrown in there. I think had it been freshly laundered it would've been neatly folded. And obviously the luxurious drapes at each of the window, whilst beautiful, could not be cleaned between each guest.
Breakfast was nice - I've had better breakfasts - but again, the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Stayed here for three nights and loved it. Although when we arrived there was a hiccup in our room it was rectified straightaway, staff couldn’t have been more apologetic if they tried. All staff were friendly even had a laugh with the night porter. Breakfast was lovely and the sunday dinner was absolutely gorgeous. 5 minute walk to the beach and a stone throw away from lots of bars. Room was spacious and bed very comfy. Would stay here again and would recommend.
