Upon arriving at the Blueberry was greeted by a friendly member of staff. Checked in and was handed a plastic key card for the electric and standard key for the door. The staff advised that we must turn in the key back to the desk if we pop out. It was pouring down rain and we were soaking wet and anxious to get to the room to dry off. The lift was broken so we had to climb two floors to our room. Upon getting to the second floor, we were greeted by ladders, tins of paint and drop cloths. Got in the room finally and needed to dry our coats, turned on the towel rail, but it doesn’t work. Went to make a cup of tea, no milk/creamers. Tried to connect to wi-fi, but not available as advertised in the room rate. The wi-fi says to move closer?! Closer to what!!! Climb downstairs and inquire about the wi-fi and was told to give it til 5pm. 5 came and went but no wi-fi and the lad is long gone. Before going out, I wanted to pop my valuables in the safe....the safe is missing out of the room so had to carry everything along as my room key had to be handed in at the desk....sounded a bit fishy. The towel supplied was frayed and stringy. The paint is chipping off the furniture. The rate of £75 was for room only....no breakfast. A very dire place for the price.
I have stayed at the Blueberry before and always enjoy my stay. Unfortunately this time the customer service wasn’t great. We were told over the phone that a table would be saved for us in the restaurant. Because of this we didn’t book a table anywhere else. We arrived in the evening to be told the restaurant was full and they didn’t save any tables for hotel guests and couldn’t provide any alternative.
Due to it being during the “Eat out to Help out” period, we were unable to get a table anywhere else and had to order a take away.
However, the room itself was large and clean with everything we needed. There was an enormous bed and TV and had a comfortable stay.
The picture shown was actually my room, very spacious, big bed, lovely soft towels, plenty of room in the bathroom.
Maybe a bit picky, the fixtures are lovely , but the repairs are of poor quality on good quality fixtures i.e the bathroom, sealant around the bath spoils the lovely bathroom.
breakfast, local produce , fab , but perhaps cook all produce throughly sausage not cooked hash brown soggy
staff not really that helpful when i needed a taxi just gave me a card to ring a taxi
having said all of the above lots of potential for a fab central hotel
We stayed at the blueberry hotel for 1 night to attend a wedding. We emailed them to ask if we could check in early to have plenty of time to get ready and this was not a problem, we arrived at midday and check in was quick and easy, we had a note to place in the car for free parking behind Alfred's, after checking in we ordered lunch which came out quick and was very nice, the room (room 4) was very nice, the bed was big and very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and had a lovely shower our only criticism would be to put black out blinds or curtains in the room as the street lights below lit the room up during the night, after attending the wedding we all went back to the hotel as they closed off an area for us all to have drinks before we moved on to the evening party, the next morning we had breakfast which was lovely and well presented. The staff were all helpful and made our stay more welcoming. Thanks to all the staff at the blueberry hotel for an enjoyable stay.
We had my friends wedding here and stayed for 1 night, the manager stayed up for us as there was problems with our flight, really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The venue was beautiful and so was the room really comfortable bed clean and really unique and as we had to leave early and couldn’t make breakfast the staff made us food for our journey, I would definitely recommend this place 5 stars
