I traveled with my family, and we stayed here for 1 day.
Firstly, the host, Avni, and his family deserve a special mention for making our stay so comfortable. Despite some language barrier, they were most polite, helpful and guided us very well about sightseeing places, public transport, and restaurants. He was very welcoming and friendly, and took care of all our requests thoroughly, even our request for extra towels! While leaving Venice, we had some confusion at the train station
(opposite to the hotel), and Avni personally came out to help us and ensure we board the right train.
The location is very good. Not very far from the airport, and just opposite to the train station. The bus stop is also just 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. There are many restaurants in the 100-200 meter radius.
We had breakfast at the hotel, and we are all vegetarian. I must say none of us had to leave the table hungry. There was something or the other to eat for everyone, and we loved their croissants and doughnuts!
3 adults shared a room, and the stay was quite comfortable. The wifi was decent, and the bathrooms were also comfortable. We had nothing to complain about.
We traveled in August, and it was the peak of summer. This hotel was worth coming back to at the end of a very hot day! :D
The rooms were not clean and it was noticeable - hair in the shower and on the towels, our sheets were ripped, and the top of our closet was VERY dusty. The air conditioning did not work well (it was poor enough that we stopped trying and opened a window then slept on top of the sheets), and the Wifi was absolutely horrid and would not stay connected when in your room. We had to go to the lobby in order for WiFi to work; the front desk's response was simply that "it is on" and should work.
Worst of all, my wife and I were debating changing our plans and adding another stop to our trip. I asked the Front Desk Associate if there would be any penalty for changing our reservation from 3 nights to only 1 night and he said no. Later that night, we decided to do just that. The next morning at 9:00am, we informed the Front Desk Associate (different than the night before) and were told that we would be charged a full penalty for leaving early (~US$325). We informed this employee that his colleague informed us we could change without penalty, but he would not listen or acknowledge this information. We had already made another reservation at another hotel and cancelling that would have resulted in full penalty there as well. We ended up working with Booking.com to get the penalty reduced and left this hotel to happily NEVER RETURN. It is not the guest's fault that your employee misinformed them.
To make this even more frustrating and worrisome, I got an email from a manager a few days later. The email clearly did not translate well:
Booking.com* sent you this message on behalf of Hotel Trieste
"I saw his false review for your fault that you went away for your problems, which we respectfully found to have found a solution .. the booking provided a penalty that was total of 3 nights 330 € but we only took € 200 per night mancha still 115 € to be picked up with the contract of the contract with the booking .. if you do not modify the false receipt we take out the total amount, as contracted. within and does not get 48hrs"
I emailed Booking.com and they assured me the hotel could not charge this and the issue was resolved.
Finally, I think it is worth noting that there was also another woman at the front desk arguing with them manager over her bill as well, claiming that they were not being charged the rate agreed upon. She called the police.
The location is great - directly across from the train station to Venice (~10min). You can also take the bus back from Venice, which is about 10-15mins, but very easy. Breakfast in the morning was also surprisingly good. I would recommend this hotel to a group of young friends traveling together and looking for a cheap option because all you care about is a bed to [drunkenly] pass-out on.
I stayed here overnight and, well, I was disappointed. The location is wonderful, just opposite the train station, which makes it a good option if you have an early or late train. However, that is all good I have to say about this place. The people at the reception desk hardly speak any English... if you give them a ring to ask questions, they tell you to write an email (which then they don't reply).
On arrival, things were not easier either. My room was not small (it was a double room for one person), but the walls had cracks, the paining was falling off the wall, the bedlinen had stains (as the covers) and the extra cover in the wardrobe was so dirty that I didn't dare taking it.
The bathroom, however, has been renovated and you can have a good shower there. The airdrier is worthless, though.
Breakfast is simple and there is not a wide variety of products.
This hotel is very convenient for the train station across the street and is ideal also for a cruise as its a short taxi ride away or bus or train all beside it. It's clean and functional . Only slight criticism is the bathroom could be updated and yard in room we stayed in could be upgraded with little cost by decoration and furniture which would have been very cost effective. See picture.
Reception looking disaster, room for breakfast:(((((.
Clean room but the bathroom requires refurbishment, now is disaster.
Generally the common areas are not as clean as must be for 3 stars hotel.
Veeeeery expensive for this services!!!!
Staff very friendly, congratulations.
Not 3 stars for sure.
