We spent a few amazing days at Poggio Etrusco with our 10 & 12 year olds, right in the middle of a three week summer tour of Italy. It was, BY FAR, the best part of our trip for everyone. The two bedroom apartment was charming and the perfect amount of space - but we spent little time there. Pamela and Johnny's recommendations for activities and restaurants (most notably Il Casale and Ristorante Daria) were fantastic - but the highlight was our cooking class. The kids looked forward to this the whole trip and didn't stop talking about it after. I only wish we could have stayed longer!!!
Poggio Etrusco is Pamela and Johnny John's agriturismo, surrounded by olive groves, about 15 minutes drive from Montepulciano. There could not be better hosts--full of great advice and warm welcoming attitudes. We had the lower apartment, 1 bedroom. Great bed, great shower. Enough storage space. Nice little kitchen with enough stuff to cook a full meal. The outside areas are just beautiful and the dogs are adorable. Easy parking on the property. Great cooking classes and very nice breakfast. Great spot to really relax in the beautiful Tuscan countryside.
I was a guest for the olive harvest 2016. What fun and what luck. Packed for rainy weather and never needed most of it. Pamela and Johnny are great hosts and had many one-of-a-kind experiences planned. I stayed in the two bedroom apartment which was quite big. Not for prissy luxury accommodation minded travelers, but perfect for me! Bring stretch pants-you'll never eat so well!
My three boys and I spent about a week here back in August. It was a safe, great home base for exploring Tuscany. Pamela and Johnny were welcoming hosts and very helpful with day trip planning. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The pool area was great, but shady, making for a pretty chilly pool temperature. This is a great place to stay if you are happy to be on your own--the owners are available but it's definitely not an all-inclusive stay. Meals on your own and cooking classes upon request, but definitely need to include trips to grocery store, etc. We loved the location, which was close to so many activities for kids, including town's awesome ropes course, which my boys LOVED!
We were a party of four who stayed with Pamela and Johnny for one night. Their 400 year old farmhouse is amazing! We had the lower level which was nice and cool even on the hot day we were there. The space was homey and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was typically Italian (reviewer who was expecting more evidently does not know how Italians eat) and served in an adorable room which we had to ourselves. Our cooking class with Pamela though was the highlight of our 3 week trip! She was fun, informative, and passionate about food. We made many courses of our own lunch complemented by other courses prepared by Pamela's assistant and her wonderful husband. We wish we would have booked a second night to be able to stay and enjoy another night in this delightful piece of Tuscan heaven! Thank you Pamela and Johnny for an unforgettable experience!
