Fantastic accommodation and a really friendly welcome awaits you in this lovely hotel in the heart of Stromboli.
We were upgraded to what was effectively a two bedroom apartment, both double bedrooms with sea views, which also boasted a covered terrace for eating/sitting and an open roof terrace. Breakfast (continental) was excellent and brought to the accommodation at the time of your choosing and the owner/manager was really helpful.
The pool was a bit chilly (it was November) but has a great view of the mountain the lounger area around it was well laid out and a good sun trap.
Probably the best value accommodation we have ever booked as a family - I have paid many times more for suites and apartments that were not half as good.
This place was the absolute perfect base for us to stay on Stromboli. Check in was super easy and we received a free up-grade which was a super nice treat by the hotel. We ended up staying in place with two en-suite bedrooms, a covered terrace and a roof terrace - this was paradise on earth and a total happy place.
The place has everything you could ask for in the kitchen, a nice bowl of complimentary fruit awaits you and the bathrooms were both brilliant and everything was impeccably clean in the place.
The decor was modern, stylish and there were some local artist volcano paintings that were amazing. The views from the top floor bedroom made me want to sit and watch all day. From the roof terrace you have direct views of the volcano which is pretty impressive. The place is super super quiet and you can easily walk there from the boat terminal, you are at the beach within a minute or two and you have everything you need to explore the place.
The breakfast included was delivered to our room each morning at the exact time we had asked for it and it was plentiful with ham/cheese, jam, juice, tea/coffee is in the room, fresh pastries and bred as well as muesli - very tasteful and fresh. The small pool area again is a very happy place, beautiful water to cool off or simply relax on the sunbeds.
The only downside is that the wifi is quite weak in the rooms, but then again - you don't really want internet there and it would be the plce for some digital detox!
I loved it so much and would really love to come back and stay longer.
We unfortunately only stayed for 2 nights, and regretet not booking for another night the moment we saw the appartement. Lovely decorated, splendid views, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast served in the room, we felt like staying with good friends. Garden plus two terraces, view of the sea and the Stromboli, Paradise!
Four of us booked to stay one night so we could climb Stromboli. We booked one room with four beds but we were upgraded to an apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We had outside eating area and an amazing rooftop terrace with wonderful views so I spent a lot of time up there.
Marcella spoke really good English and was so helpful. Breakfast was brought to our room and it was varied and tasty. We were getting the hydrofoil back to Sicily at 4pm and she allowed us to have the apartment until 4.
I would recommend Il Gabbiano very highly and would love to return in the future.
Stayed for 2 nights. There was a kitchen and a welcome pack was left for us including milk and a bottle of wine.
Breakfast was delivered to your room each morning and we had our own private terrace to sit outside and eat. There is also a private roof terrace with sun beds to sit in the sun and view Stromboli volcano.
Frederica sent a text asking if we wanted a taxi (aka golf buggy) to bring us from the ferry, we decided to walk along the sea front.
There is a lido at the bottom of the steps to rent sunbeds and umbrellas which was really relaxing.
Within 10 minutes walk you can catch the little bus which takes you to the Osservatori restaurant where you can watch the Stromboli explosions (staff will book this for you).
The hotel also booked a boat tour for us to Ginostra and to see the Sciara del fuoco on the 2nd evening.
A brilliant hotel and a wonderful stay on Stromboli.
