There are many good extras in this Ibis: there's a pool and a gym, there is tea, coffee, and water available in the foyer 24/24. The staff are excellent, polite, obliging, helpful. The decor in the lobby/foyer is a bit eccentric, quirky even, but the rooms are spacious and airy. The hotel is near the motorway and there is no need to go into Vierzon (not that there is anything to see/do there anyway!). My GPS had trouble finding the hotel and brought me to the local Gendarmes who could not have been more helpful in giving directions! There is limited dining in the hotel which means the choice is going next door to the CourtePaille which is part of a chain but an excellent example of good service and food (see separate review). As a loyalty card member, I never fail to be treated well in any Ibis hotel.
Stopped en route from Calais to Bordeaux. Easy to find. Quiet. Breakfast ok. Clean with added bonus of gym and pool (although pool not open TIL 9am). A tad pricey for budget hotel not refundable. Nothing more to say than that trip advisor
Access room for disabled excellent with large comfortable bed, well adapted bathroom (but watch out for usual wet room problem of water making its way across floor - use more towels to walk on for safety ). Everywhere spotless. Good Wifi. All staff - manager, reception, cleaner/housekeeping, breakfast servers etc. extremely helpful efficient and friendly. Swimming pool great, and mini-gym for wife, but wish it opened at 7am for use before breakfast. Breakfast excellent We really appreciate( included) self serve hot drink in lounge in evening. Busy road but not heard in hotel. Staff even adjusted A/C to give us temperature we wanted in room. Convenient 5/6 hr drive Calais/ Cherbourg etc.
Staying in a cheap chain hotel by the motorway with your kids has never been our dream stopover, however there isn’t much choice on way from Paris to Toulouse especially if you don’t know how much time you have for traveling that day (I am really bad at reading maps so finding a place was a bit difficult). Now I must say something that I have never said before (and I am not sure I will ever again unless we go back) but the place was absolute gem! The interior is very cool – all recycled engines and bikes for furniture, bright colours in the rooms – kids absolutely loved the ‘slime’ theme (the over 18’s saw it as splashed paint but then what do we know). The family suit had a separate room for children with single beds and their own TV, although there was no door between the two rooms.
Adult only sauna (not sure if it was the rule there but I made one for our family) that was pretty sound proof and had a view to the indoor pool and the little gym area – both great for seeing that the kids were alive, and relatively well, but not hearing all the screams. They had fun, we were in a warm quiet place. Win-win.
There was a little play area, free hot drinks&water; a bar at the reception, all of which came handy as we arrived pretty early and had to keep the kids entertained until dinner. And even for that we didn’t have to go far as there was one of the typical ‘roadside grill’ places just next door – no Michelin stars but good enough for everyone to find something to eat.
And to top it up, there was fresh orange juice press and pancakes for breakfast – absolute dream for kids, and for parents if you know what travelling with children means! I probably wouldn’t choose this place as a holiday destination (although it looked like some familys had) but I would definitely stay there again when in the area with kids!
