Went one day trip to Nelliampathy with 5 adults and 3 kids. We have been given one double room and one single room. The day we checked-in, the resort was occupied by group of people and they vacated all the rooms only after 5 pm. So we got the room after cleaning around 6 pm only. This was really bad. So we checked out the rooms next day around 4.00 pm only.
Rooms were constructed during British era, so it looks older. Room was spacious but only one fan was fitted, so felt sultry during daytime and during night it was okay due to chillness. In the double room, fan was not running at full speed. Initially they said only one towel would be given in each room and we argued and got towel for each adults.
Morning around 7 pm coffee or tea will be provided directly in the room. For dinner we have to order in advance and it was costlier. Since no other options are available, we have to eat only in the resort. Breakfast and Lunch was buffet and it costs 150 rs/head. Food was good and not excellent.
Only in this resort in Nelliampathy, they arrange off road night safari in jeep after 6.30 pm. If you go after 7.30 pm it will be full dark and you can experience an adventurous bumpy ride. It costs 1000 rs. per jeep.
Also they have mini farmhouse and entrance ticket is 10 rs./head. You can see goat, pigeon, hen, cow in that farmhouse. Not worthy for adults. Since there was no water in the waterfalls, we didn't visit any places. We went for night and day jeep safari only.
Nelliampathy is full of estate with greenish surrounding and one can visit Nelliampathy to relax and enjoy the climate, nature and not for sightseeing. In Nelliampathy Greenland farmhouse is best and all local wala, forest officers recommend this resort only. So visit Nelliampathy with no great expectations and enjoy.
Stated 2 nights with family at premium Villa, rooms are good and well maintained. Would recommend to go for this catagory if you can afford. The water on the room was muddy since they use the water from a open water body which is frequented by wild animals. After complaining they gave me a lame excuse of rain s. Also the curry served at restaurant was rotten meat which was smelling foul. I wonder how can they serve such a bad quality food at restaurant. It would have been minimum 1 week old kept in the refrigerator. The charge s of food is really high since you have no other options nearby. Recommend for 2 day s stay but be careful of food. Not fully worth the money you pay.
We are group of 16 and have booked 'The Vantage' for 2 nights stay. This is just behind the main building and has 1 suit room(2 double bed), 3 deluxe rooms and 1 standard room. We didn't like the standard room as the room size is small and it is like a store room. My suggestion is to book this cottage without the standard room. The deluxe and suit room are spacious with basic amenities provided. All the rooms has soap, towel and hot water facility.
Service by the reception staff and the Kitchen chef was excellent. They have provided early morning(by 6am) tea and hot water to take bath as per our request since we have planned to leave outside by 7am. Buffet lunch was good and dinner is prepared based on our request from the fixed menu they have.
The resort itself is big with parking area, lawn to sit and spend time, birds/animal farm, view point and kids play area. Kids will enjoy the farm and the big space to roam. They will arrange a off road Jeep safari in night (Rs. 1000 per jeep) after 6.30pm which is must try. Earlier the Jeep safari was till Mampara but now it is restricted due to forest restrictions. Now the safari is till a excellent view point which has to be experienced.
In short, worth the time and money spent.
Now the areas of improvement (must fix IMO)
1. The hot water was muddy the first day when we took bath. This might be due to the early morning hot water request but has to be fixed
2. Buffet lunch has good spread but the same dishes are provided on both the days we stayed. Variety lacks.
3. No intercom facility. We have to walk to reception for any needs/request as we will not have mobile signals, if we try to call through mobile
4. No debit/credit card swipe facility. We have to give cash for room and food bills.
I stayed two nights at the farm house resort. It has enough amenities sprawling across 600 acres of land that can keep you engaged. The cottages are clean and neat although they are old. The property itself is magical in the weather that it has. The staff has been very courteous and so has been the resort manager. The resort can arrange for night trekking which is a great experience. The room rates are very affordable. Breakfast is not included in the package. There is no wi-fi as well.
There is no intercom in the cottages, which is a downside.
A trip which all of us enjoyed in every breath we took!! As we started our search for a perfect hang out location in summer vacation, some one suggested why can't we choose Nelliyampathy!! We were a group of 18 adults and 9 kids, so when we choose a place it should be a perfect location to quench enveryone's thirst. Our serach for such a place ended up at Green Land Farmhouse. Initially we faced lot of problems in getting in touch with them as we were not getting proper replies for our querry though internet. Once we got in touch with them over phone, everything went smooth. As our's is a big group we opt all of us to stay under one roof and thus chose the Bunglaw with 5 bed rooms including a suit room. That was more than enough to accomodate us. We reached there around 6.30 pm and the climate which welcomed us was awesome. We drove around 8 hrs to reach there but as we stepped out of the cars all our stress were took away by the fresh cool breeze. No wonder why they faced problems to answer our querry, it's is really deep inside the forest where internet connectivity is a real luxuary. Even Mobile network is limited which is actually an added advantage to stay away from out side world. After a warm welcome, staff took us to the Bunglow; a 19th centuary colonial Bunglow which was well maintained with its anique appeal. One should not expect a fivestar facility in such a location but all our needs were really taken cared off. The resort staffs were very courteous and their GM Mr. Martin and Restaurant staff Mr.Kannan really deserves a special mention. "Special thanks"to both of you. The only one suggestion we putting is to provide window blinds to all bathroom windows. The windows are bit wide and without blinds, which gives an insecurity feeling during shower. Apart from dinner all other melas were buffet with fixed price(very reasonable). The food was so tasty and delecious and adequate in quantity (No restrictions on quantity). On our special request they prepared Turcky Meat dishes for the second night dinner along with Camp fire. The camp fire was bit disappointing as the area they arranged the camp fire was not appealing and it started raining in the middle. Mr. Kannan's hands were there to help us and he quickly shifted dinner to another area under the roof. Do remember to keep own stuffs if you need some booze during your stay. One should not miss the night safari to the hill top view point if you stay at Green Land. It is something like once in a lifetime experience. Oh!! what a drive that was!! Once you reach there at the view point, you will loose yourself there. We stayed in Green Land for 2 nights and none of us had a single point of grevences during our stay. It is really a sweet momery and was a wonderful get-together we had at Green Land.
