We stayed here after arriving from Brisbane on the Spirit of Queensland train. The journey was 12 hours. We arrived at 5.00am and Yasmin got up especially for us so we could check. Our room was fantastic with an ensue bathroom. Very clean with a comfortable bed. Beach just over the road but we stayed by the pool as we were told about the jelly fish in the sea. We would recommend the Beachside. The kitchen and living area are shared but there was no other guests staying so it felt like it was our house. Yasmin put bread, bacon, milk etc in the fridge for us. We made our own breakfast as she goes to work very early before we woke up. Excellent. Would definitely stay here should we visit Queensland again.

We stayed in the queen ensuite bedroom which was very comfortable, had a large walk in wardrobe and good sized bathroom. As we were the only ones staying that night, we had the guest area including the kitchen and sitting area to ourselves. Great balcony to sit on with view over the beach. Cooked breakfast was good and Yasmin was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a good place to stay.

We arrived with our small dog Molly en route north for a night. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Our room was clean and bright with a jacuzzi bathroom and toilet next door. There was plenty of freedom to use the available seats outside on the deck and the adjacent lounge and kitchen. We were able to make a hot or cold drink and use the fridge. Our pet was allowed to stay with us the whole time.
The beach was just across the road with plenty of golden sand to walk along with our dog. Local take always delivered our evening meal, but there was other options we could of explored.
The breakfast was cooked fresh at the time we ordered it and there was plenty to choose from. We cannot thank the hosts enough for our wonderful stay and highly recommend that any traveller visiting Mackay book in and stay a night or two.

Visiting a sick relative on the south side of Mackay, we decided we wanted something quite, away from the glitter strip of the North Mackay mega-resorts… we were looking for something closer to where we needed to be, a little less pricey and close to the beach. Newly listed and looking uber-chic from its recent renovations, we settled for the lovely quiet Beachside B&B.

Unfortunately, we arrived by train at 4am, dampening an otherwise marvelous stay, by being clamped with an extra full day’s penalty, for arriving so early. This charge was almost as much as we had paid for the discounted three nights we were staying. Not being offered a special rate, despite it only being half a day, stung a little, but that soon passed as we got to know the live-in host(s) and enjoyed the comfort and luxury of a very peaceful, relaxing and beautifully spotless B&B.

Some teething problems for the host as she visibly practiced etiquette and boundaries, resisting the urge to peek in your room before knocking for breakfast and changing the breakfast rules halfway through our stay, to no more continental breakfasts, just cereal and toast? Maybe I was dreaming because the bed in our room was so very comfortable, despite it being a regular double. The room itself (an extension on the original building) was awesomely comfortable, with a super-spacious modern bathroom and a great shower with ample hot water… or cold.
Air conditioned, but with no TV in the room, you need to share the lounge-room to watch TV, pool and kitchen, or just sit back and enjoy the cool of the evening breezes on a huge verandah with an equally huge and comprehensive BBQ. Just lovely. The kitchen is extensive and well equipped and you are welcome to cook your evening meal if you so wish.

With beautifully sealed wooden floors, huge windows catching the breezes overlooking Mackay Bay, there are no complaints. This resort is a great destination, clean and very comfortable and in low season, more or less left to your own devices to enjoy it all in a home-away-from home.

Very comfortable for a family with children and so well located to travel into the hinterland, north to Airle Beach, Bowen or south to see the incredible cane field heartland of Queensland and the booming coal ports scattered along its shoreline.

Highly recommend it to anyone, as long as you don’t arrive at an odd hour and are clear on what constitutes Breakfast. We would return, without hesitation.

Dear Lilla, Thank you for the lovely review with such a positive plug for Mackay and the surrounding districts. It sounds as though your visit to Beachside B&B was enjoyable and that is what I aim for. I am deeply saddened that you were of the opinion I peeked, I cannot recall it ever happening, perhaps I knocked on your ajar door? I am sorry to have offended you. On your next visit, which I look forward to, perhaps I can show you that the bed in your room which was "so very comfortable" was truly a Queen. Till next time.......
