Had to travel to Hastings for an emergency and was able to book into this Motor Lodge at late notice. We were going to arrive late and the proprietor left our room open and also put the heaters on so the room was nice and warm on arrival.

A regular spot for me to stay the rooms are kept tidy and have full facilities if you want them. The hosts are really friendly. Cleaning staff open all the windows in your room when they service them, this is ok until you’re in one of the rooms by the smoking area, my room smelt of stale smoke when I was there from people smoking outside and the smell drifting in.

We stayed in clean, tidy and air conditioned room of approximately 22sq metres. Room was a little dark especially when the curtains were pulled down for privacy. We were far enough back so that we didn't hear traffic from the busy road but it could be a problem in units nearer the front. Hell's pizza a dairy and the coffee club restaurant near by.

I just spent two weeks in room 5 at Omahu Lodge and was very happy!

I simply don’t understand a couple of the negative reviews below because my experience was completely different and, believe me, as frequent business traveller I’m super picky!

My room was spotlessly clean and the daily housekeeping was fantastic. The bed and bed linen were sublime and I slept really well. The A/C works really well and I loved the little but perfectly equipped kitchenette.

I loved the table and chairs on the terrace for an evening drink and chill and the dinner table and desk in the room were ideal for eating or working. It was also good to be able to flop into the comfy armchair and watch a bit of TV.

There are tons of TV channels (more than many large hotels) and the WiFi is PERFECT for a business traveler who’s WiFi dependant.

In terms of facilities nearby, there’s a Four Square mini market 7 minutes pleasant, flat walk behind the motel. It’s open until 19:00. Turning left out of the front of the motel and walking down Omahu Road will take you to a couple of fast food outlets in 2 minutes. Walk a further 3-4 minutes and you’ll find a coffee shop / cafe, a huge wine and liquor store and the fantastic Jark’s Restaurant and bar - upscale but mega friendly.

Shay and Bev are brilliant and very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for doing my laundry Shay!

I highly recommend this motel and look forward to my second stay in May.

Strange to see some good comments for this "guest" (horrible) house. Our experience was just unbelievable. The room was smelling cold cigarettes, sheets were smelly (moldy) and breakfast not fresh and cheap cheap. Be aware the managers are the owner (Shaw/Bev) and will not help. everything you ask for will occur a charge and be prepared to be surprised when the bill comes. Never again to this place focused on your wallet versus guest experience. We pay the price of 5 stars for a horrible experience. Never again...
