It is stylish and make you feel homey. Walking distance to beach with amenities. Hotel customer service is excellent. With nice gym/pool facilities in next door. Bus station is nearby that you can rely on bus service to Cairns city.
I stayed here with a friend who has a membership. We had a 2 bedroom suite each with a king bed and one had an on suite bath while the other was attached to the main living area but blocked by sliding pocket doors. There was a 4 piece bath across the hall.
Living area was big and included lots of seating, a good size kitchen area, a table that sat 6 and a balcony with good patio furniture.
Pool area is very dated and I had a lot of difficulty getting out of the pool since it's a very steep step out although there were hand rails.
We were told that the resort is in the process of refurbishment and that the grounds will be updated and more facilities added.
*** Ask the exact location of your room - not sure if there are any great views from any room and at least 2 apartments overlook the garbage dumpsters that smell.
We had a 9 night stay and found The Sebel to be very comfortable and a great base to discover the area.
My husband was a little surprised to find very few amenities i.e. restaurant, fitness centre on site etc as he had different expectations with the name 'Sebel' in its name.
I didn't really have any expectations and was very happy with what I found.
The reception was efficient and friendly and informative.
A couple of recommendations would be to have an ice machine on the premise and a vending machine for drinks and snacks which can be accessed 24 hours a day.
The pool is looking a little 'old fashioned' but was ample to lie around and swim in. I did read a complaint a long time ago about not being able to see the edge of the steps and the response was that you would look at it, but still nothing has been done and with myself knowing it was there and being careful still kicked the rough edge of the steps in the pool. Is there not an underwater product that can be applied in water to identify the step edge?
The area just outside the turn into the health club and the driveway into the Sebel looks quite scruffy and unkempt. Perhaps a little tidy up and plantings may improve the look of it.
There were not always pool towels available at reception so we would keep ours and wash and dry them daily which was OK but not ideal.
The WiFi was great but was aware of the limit it had which did stop me from streaming movies etc.
I would like to have been able to access my Netflix on your Smart TVs. I did try but I couldn't seem to get it to work and did not pursue it as had not been advised that this was a viable facility at the hotel.
Overall it was a fantastic holiday and we felt our stay was good value and were very pleased with our room at The Sebel Palm Cove.
I would definitely return.
We had 3 nights here and it has been very nice. Plenty of pools and good facilities. Room was clean and furniture in very good condition and a comfy bed.
Its an easy 10 min walk to the esplanade for beach / bars and restaurants. We would recommend as value for money, but only drawback is the location, which isnt a real problem if you get a room at a good price.. Even now when it has been (35 - 38 degrees).
They were very helpful and gave us a late checkout also.
This is a modern apartment hotel, so there's no attached breakfast room or restaurant. I must say the apartments are very clean, spacious and well equipped. Nice furniture and good bathrooms. There is a nice pool at ground level but it dose not have much of an outlook, and neither do the rooms. The advertised tropical surroundings are far distant. You really only look over a huge flat cleared area and a Gym next door. It is in a very quiet area, and about a 16 minute downhill walk to reach the main area of Palm Cove's lovely beach, walkways, lawns, restaurants and and food outlets and shopping precinct. etc. (uphill walk to return to the Sebel). Service at the Sebel is good only during daytime, there is no reception evenings and nights.
