We stayed at the Drewe Arms for a night as a stop on the 2 Moor Way. The room was alright with all the basics, however everything was a little dirty and the bathroom had obviously not been cleaned with hairs and grime in the bath.
For any other walkers, be aware that the Drewe Arms does not offer dinner. We were given no options or suggestions for where to get food so had to rely on snacks we'd brought ourselves.
The customer service was pretty negligible, with no milk or coffee in room, no wifi password etc until we hunted down a customer who helped us rather than a staff member.
Breakfast was nice with better customer service, but wouldn't go again unless desperate.
This was a convenient stop while walking the Two Moors Way. The room was quite comfortable. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The outdoor seating area was right outside my window, but I didn't have any issues with noise. Perhaps it's a quiet village.
Good pub food. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very dog friendly. Good location for exploring area on foot or by car. We hope to go back again. The bedroom was “compact” but comfortable and we slept very well.
Sent back politely 2 sub standard meals. Out came owner/ chef demanding what was wrong with the food. Tried to explain. The response was him walking away and telling us and then rest of the room to hurry up if we wanted to order something else as he was closing the kitchen. Slightly unhinged comes to mind AVOID.
Just returned home from a wonderful night at the Drewe Arms for my birthday treat with my partner and our two flat coated retrievers. From the minute we arrived we felt and we were were made so welcome that it really did feel like we were relaxed at home. We had a lovely ensuite room in the pub with plenty of room for our two dogs. Great not to have a TV in the room as it gave us time to really relax and read the local newspapers and magazines, I recommend the Dartmoor magazine for an insight into local culture.
Back to the fantastic Drewe Arms itself - everything was perfect for us for dinner that night and were delighted with our choices of duck and sirloin steak for mains, with a shared platter of mozarrella sticks, olives and bread for a warm-up! The Prosecco was perfectly chilled and tasted lovely. A couple of nightcaps later we and the dogs retired in our cosy comfortable room. We even had a rare lie-in the next morning as we were all so chilled then we enjoyed a sumptuous full breakfast including the largest and freshest eggs ever and delicious sausages.
Such a lovely friendly pub to stay, we will be back soon to stay again hopefully but in the meantime we will regularly come for delicious lunches after our long walks on Dartmoor.
