I went several times to this old fashion hotel in sukhumvit area.
I love old style hotel because i think this hotels have their own soul inside and in their room there is a part of thousands of guests.
Cofee shop is 24 hrs open and that's is great thai and western food is delecious.
Ppl s old but with nice maneers and i remeber with a lot of plaesure mechanical machine for make bills...
Sure if you are looking for perfect 5 star hotel this is not your place but if u have nostalgia (like i always have) for old thailand this is your place
I stumbled upon this years ago. It is still best value for money in town. It is the last of the of its kind . The location is a bonus especially after a night of partying. The front desk staff are interesting, if you bother to take the time to talk with them. The staff as a whole are lovely, and have been there for ever.Yes the rooms are tired but the bed is great and the room huge. The pool is great after a hard day. Do pop across the road to get a coffee, and some street food, as breakfast is ordinary. However I did find the Asian option much better.
The hotel is just enough if you will stay for a day or two. I went in Bangkok last April 10 for 3 days and since it's my first time to travel there I don't have any idea which place is better to stay. I saw this Rex Hotel (old but look better than the first choice i had) I checked in for the price of 1200 Baht including breakfast. They gave me a room in 3rd floor. At first I thought it was great because of flat screen TV and a toilet with bathtub, a big room with big bed but in the middle of the night, i saw a lot of bugs in my bed and i started to feel itchiness in my legs and arms. I called the reception right away and the best thing was they gave me another room but seems to have same problem so i choose to sleep in the sofa. American Breakfast was a big joke. Staff in reception are old, look so sleepy and never smile. The location was perfect.
This vintage Bangkok Hotel is great if you like character. In the same style as the now demolished Golden Palace Hotel. Staff are great if you smile and treat them with respect. Beds very comfortable. Everything in working condition. Room service food good, though I would give breakfast a miss if staying again. Swimming pool great to cool off. Close to Skytrain (BTS) but not noisy. Even has (limited) car parking.
A hotel which saw better days - but for a day or two it´s an option to stay in this area.... very spacious rooms a bit smelly from smoking but they try to keep the room in the best conditions they can, it have a swimming pool which is nice to have after a day of shopping and also included a small plated breakkfast.... all over - it´s OK for the 1.200 THB per night and .... it´s not far from the next Thong Lo BTS station
