I stayed at the hotel a couple of times. It was a blast from the past. And it had a car park and a swimming pool. Alas it was demolished a year ago so no longer an option. So if you are looking for this sort of retro hotel you will find one less to choose from in Bangkok.
I stumbled upon this years ago. It is still best value for money in town. It is the last of the of its kind . The location is a bonus especially after a night of partying. The front desk staff are interesting, if you bother to take the time to talk with them. The staff as a whole are lovely, and have been there for ever.Yes the rooms are tired but the bed is great and the room huge. The pool is great after a hard day. Do pop across the road to get a coffee, and some street food, as breakfast is ordinary. However I did find the Asian option much better.
This vintage Bangkok Hotel is great if you like character. In the same style as the now demolished Golden Palace Hotel. Staff are great if you smile and treat them with respect. Beds very comfortable. Everything in working condition. Room service food good, though I would give breakfast a miss if staying again. Swimming pool great to cool off. Close to Skytrain (BTS) but not noisy. Even has (limited) car parking.
A hotel which saw better days - but for a day or two it´s an option to stay in this area.... very spacious rooms a bit smelly from smoking but they try to keep the room in the best conditions they can, it have a swimming pool which is nice to have after a day of shopping and also included a small plated breakkfast.... all over - it´s OK for the 1.200 THB per night and .... it´s not far from the next Thong Lo BTS station
It was clean, run down, but functioning (except for the for the left hand elevator which we briefly got stuck in). Quiet, rooms are not on the road. Coffee shop next door is the restaurant, never ate there, just had a beer or two. Nice enough, Formica counters, etc. Our room was 1200 B/night. Swam in pool, something wrong with chemistry balance, hurt my eyes underwater, not a chlorine problem.
