We visited this hotel as part of our tour but only stayed one night. The bedroom was spacious and clean with fridge, safe etc. The pool area was small but this is a ‘downtown’ hotel so one wouldn’t expect a huge pool deck. Our highlight was breakfast buffet on the rooftop terrace, looking out over the city. Good selection of foods and great views.

Stayed as part of a tour. Not on a par with other 4* in Vietnam. Dated. Nice lobby but the lifts are a bit slow. Staff are pleasant. Got the feeling that they are still getting used to Westerners.
Bar: In the lobby and doesn’t stay open late. Not well stocked, drinks were inconsistent and some things ran out of stock. The waitresses uniform was impractical with skirts that are too short - I don’t wish to view their knickers/backsides through the back slit in their skirts thank you.
Room: For some reason we were given a family room rather than a double. The bathroom needs updating as the shower over the bath is showing signs of overuse.
Breakfast; ok, slightly disorganised, in a nice room with a small terrace. Food lacked the choice of other hotels on our tour. Staff did not easily understand English. Trying to get a spoon small enough to fit in the yoghurt jar was difficult, even with miming. We ate out for our other meals.
Swimming pool: Disappointing. On the third floor. We went to use it but didn’t bother when we saw it. It was raining but that didn’t matter; below expectations as it is an irregular shape and too small to have any meaningful swim or exercise in.
Spa: Not acceptable. The spa is not in the hotel, but is immediately next door and appears to be independent of the hotel anyway, since you cannot charge anything to your room or pay by credit card. Their facilities are also not practical. I had a manicure and pedicure in a bucket seat and one hand was in a bowl perched on the arm, the other crossed over being attended to and one leg on the other girl’s knee. It was chaotic rather than relaxing. Unfortunately their command of English is not sufficient for the task. I went in with lovely long nails that just needed shaping and slightly evening up before painting. I came out $20 lighter, with very very short nails (unhappy), with no base coat, one colour coat only and a top coat. Needless to say it barely lasted a couple of days before looking tatty and I could have done a better job myself. No list of treatments or price list can be viewed other than in the salon itself. I think it is misleading for a 4 star hotel to claim it has a spa/beauty treatments when it does not appear to have a direct link or offer the expected quality of service or provide information itself - a rip off.

Nice rooms with terrace. Good bed.
Friendly staff, good service
Good breakfast
Less good: swimming pool (too small), shower: you have to take your shower in a bath tub and the amount of warm water is limited
However the good things outweigh the bad ones, so 4 stars from us!

Cannot fault the service levels we received in this hotel, especially in the public areas of the reception, lobby bar and breakfast room. The reception staff were always courteous and very helpful and the young girls working the lobby bar always had a smile.
The hotel itself is a bit dated and the facilities creak a little. The two glass domed lifts are great fun at first until you realise how small and inefficient they are and after a while you resort to the stairs, especially if you have to get down to the lobby at the same time that the Japanese and Koreans are checking out with all their suitcases blocking the lifts.
The hotel swimming pool is on the third floor but is an outside one and not practical when it rains (as it does frequently in this part of Vietnam). Also the hotel swimming puddle would be a better description.
The hotel Spa is not in the hotel but next door and isn’t actually part of the hotel but a separate private business, so you have to pay cash and cannot put any charges to your room. I can’t comment but according to my better half the manicure and pedicure are a waste of time, irrespective of how low cost they may be,
Our room was very spacious, especially as we had a family room with a king sized double bed and a queen sized single. Plenty of storage space and a wardrobe extension unit housing the tea/ coffee facilities, the fridge and the safe. But it was like stepping back in time decor wise. The furniture was all dark wood with white and cream walls and the bathroom the old Asian style creamy yellow colour with old style bath containing the shower head. Also a lack of power sockets meant we were having to fiddle behind the flat screen tele or pulling out the lamp plugs to be able to charge the mobile phones.
But in saying that the room was quiet, the beds comfortable and the Wi-Fi worked well in the room once you had logged onto the correct hub address for your part of the hotel. ( and there are several in use at the Mondial)
The breakfast room on the top floor is one of the highlights providing some outside seating and affording great views towards the river. The breakfast service was a bit haphazard though, meaning we had to go asking for bowls, cups and cutlery on a few occasions. The egg station was good but the so called toaster should be prosecuted under the trade descriptions act.
The lobby bar prices are obviously higher than in the bars outside but in keeping with the other hotels we experienced. Cocktails were just over 900K Dong which relates to £3 Stirling or just over $4.
The hotel location is good being a five minute walk back from the river and it is worth turning right and right out the hotel at night to see the French War Memorial and take a stroll down the riverside boardwalk to see the illuminated dragon boats and bridges.
