Spotless room with everything you need, bathroom a bit basic. Located in a nice neighborhood, taxi takes you I 10 minutes to the centre. Nice rooftop bar to have a beer with a view on the pagoda, which is a 5 minute walk away. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
My favorite choice in Yangon. Rooms might look a bit tired, but everything was very clean, including sheets, pillows and towels. The hotel is several minutes from the Eastern Gate of Shwedagon pagoda, in a quaint neighborhood with many monasteries.
The view of Shwedagon from the roof top bar is fantastic at night. The buffet breakfast offers lots of Western and Asian options, fruit and veggies. The staff was nice and helpful in an unobtrusive way and I really liked the glass water dispenser in the room.
Just around the corner from the hotel there is a great little restaurant - Jana Mon Ethnic Cuisine. You can get snacks and fruit from the market below the Eastern stairs of Shwedagon (they make delicious rice pancakes there) and in front of the hotel there is a tiny place serving good strong coffee.
Overall great value for money.
I really liked the Merchant Art . The location is perfect , not only for visits of Shwedagon Pagoda . We also walked to Scot's Market for example .The breakfast on the roof terrace is the most beautiful start of a day in Yangon . The views on the golden pagodas in the morning sun takes your breath away . The buffet is great , good choice of Asian and Western food , good coffee .
We had a room without window what made it very quiet .
This is a nicely located hotel, 5 minutes walk to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room I had was somewhat small and the shower was more a wet room as there was no separation from it and the bathroom but still got the job done. A good breakfast and bar area on the roof which has amazing views of the pagoda lit up at night.
I stayed four nights at the Merchant Art Boutique Hotel. The interior of the room was okay and the staff friendly. However, the shower holder was damaged in a way that it could not hold the shower head. Apart from that, the refrigerator didn't work. A different problem was the aircon which didn't even become cool when I had it on 16 degrees. I reported this to the receptionist twice on two different days and she promised me to forward the information to the maintenance. Nothing was repaired.
On the third day, the maid removed the toothbrush, which I had bought myself, from my room. Therefore, I had to use the brushes provided by the hotel. After one minute the brushes came off and almost went down my throat.
The maid also didn't refill soap a single time.
