Wifi didn't work in my room, at all. The breakfast everyone raves about includes nescafe (why serve that cheap cr@p in a coffee producing country like bolivia?!?!?!!) and no juice. 1 out of 3 showers had reliable hot water. Got woken up by some strange animal noise at 5am then at 8am by the extremely noisy school next door. I requested a discount and got one (otherwise would have put 2 stars out of 5) however I would not stay there again.

Big comfortable beds, great breakfast (TWO eggs! Bread, jam...even tomatoes and peppers if you go for an omlette. Best breakfast ive had in Bolivia!)
Its not a party hostel but is nice and friendly, sociable and the staff are great.
Dog and cat rule the roost here, if you like animals youll be happy!

We were not vere happy with our stay at the Clavel Blanco.
Already the welcome was very strange. We booked two nights in a private room via Hostelworld, but when we arrived, the receptionist told us that our room is occupied for the next two weeks by someone else. She offered us to pay for a much more expensive room but we insisted that we won't pay more than the other room. She checked with the owner and it was ok. Than she said we had to pay for the breakfast but we showed her the reservation that clearly stated that breakfast was included. When she showed us the room and I asked for the key and she said there was no key for this room. After we insisted that we wanted a key, she got one from the owner.
The room itself was quite clean and spacious but one window didn't have any curtains, so anybody could look in, so there's not much privacy in the "private room". Also there was no WiFi in the room. I don't know if it is just me, but when I read "WiFi" in the hostel description, I assume that it is in the room and not only in the yard. We also didn't get any towels or soap and there was also neither in the bathrooms.
There was one toilet close to our room which was broken, so you couldn't flush. During our whole stay they didn't bother to repair it or even put a sign on it. The only other toilet in the Hostel was at the other end of the building so we had to walk quit a bit to go to the bathroom. Btw: when walking through the yard you have to watch your step since the owners dog poops everywhere.
The breakfast was okay: instant coffee without milk, bread, eggs and jam.
There is a school or gym next to the Hostel, so during the day it is quite loud. During the night time it was mostly quiet exept when people working in the hostel were screaming for the cat late at night and early in the morning.
We were glad that we only booked two nights. We now moved to another hostel were we feel much more welcome than at clavel blanco.

I had a wonderful stay in Clavel Blanco thanks to the friendliness of the staff and volunteers there. What I liked the most was to take the breakfast in the big table inside with the other travellers-it's so much better when you are a solo traveler- and the big patio. The beds were so comfortable and the dorm was quite big. The first night I have been lucky enough to be alone in the room. The breakfast is delicious and for free (coffee or tea, eggs, toast, and jam).
The only problems I could find is that there are only two bathrooms (one upstairs, the other downstairs) and the weak wi-fi (it's low in the common areas downstairs. The best connection was actually in the room).
