Check in was promp and efficient, the property is very clean and well maintained and this is visible as soon as you come through the gate. (apart from the swimming pool I will come back to this later)
The room we booked was a large room with balcony, the room itself was spotless as was the bathroom, and the balcony was a nice area to spend some time on the rocking chair chillaxing. We could have been doing with a small fridge in the room to keep our beer cold. There is no alcohol in Haus Berlin the same as in most hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka they were all dry hotels.

WiFi in the room was only useable between waking up and 0830 after this it was that slow it was unusable so not as described on website unfortunately.

All housekeeping staff whether cleaning or cooking were brilliant and done a fantastic job of keeping the place clean and tidy, they always had a smile for you at any time of the day. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely fantastic, a selection of fresh fruit, fruit juice, a spicy omelette, followed by Sri Lankan staples of Dahl, string hoppers and sambal with lashings of tea or coffee to wash it down.

On arrival the swimming pool did not look clear enough to swim in, which was a shame, although as the week went on the pool looked clearer but it should have been like that from day one and I would have used it.

The beach is a good 10 mins away by Tuk Tuk as is the town. We used the beach next to Bentota station.

We spent a total of five nights at Haus Berlin and loved every minute of it. It was a true home from home, with a beautiful garden and comfortable room. We spent a lot of time just chilling in the garden, in the pool or on the balcony, always made to feel relaxed and welcomed.
Buddhisha and the other staff was all really helpful and friendly. When our son turned 11 during our stay there they made it magical for him with cake, song and hugs. We warmly recommend Haus Berlin and hope to be able to return ourselves one day!

We had a wonderful 4 night stay here with our 3 and 6 year old children. A lovely setting in a nice and peaceful area setback about 1km from the coast. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable and the kids where taken with all the staff (especially Buddisha!).

The hospitality we received was warm, genuine and very kind. Our family room was large, clean and comfortable, and opened out onto a lovely large veranda looking out onto the pool and beautiful garden.

The food was excellent including the breakfast. There was always something different for the children (pancakes, sweet bread and french toast) and we enjoyed a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast too; nothing was too much trouble.

We could easily order a Tuk Tuk anytime to take us on the 5min (and cheap) trip down to the beach - don't be put off that this place isn't right on the beach. One night we walked around the corner to the Diya Sisila restaurant on the river.

All in all, highly recommend and we will always have very fond memories.

Superb ..we stayed in the hotel for 3 days... Service was very good. Staff is very polite. Nice & clean rooms with swimming pool and garden. Most important thing is attitude of the hotel owner and staff, they helped us in every way.. be it arranging scooter, Tuk Tuk, taxi, train information.
