We stayed at Hotel Penaga over the Vesak Day Weekend. Service was prompt and staff was knowledgeable about the attractions in Penang. Room was well furnished and the poster-bed was great! The showers and jaccuzi in the bathroom was amazing. The spa was also good, especially after a whole day of walking. However, it is not located near to Georgetown. It'll take around 15 mins to reach KOMTAR but there's no lack of F&B outlets and a morning market, all within walking distance. We had a dinner at the restaurant but we thought it better for guests to satiate their big appetites elsewhere on this food paradise-island!

Very spacious and comfortable room! Chinese traditional decoration. The hotel is minutes away from restaurants and local attractions. Can't really complain much!! The price was very reasonable too.

The breakfast was nice. Plenty of choices; personally enjoyed the fresh fruit the most.

Overall a pleasant stay and highly recommended to anyone going to Penang.

We were welcomed early in the morning when we arrived at this hotel. They were wonderful at the front desk and worked hard at getting our room ready while we had breakfast. The hotel had atmosphere and intimacy with lovely pieces of furniture and art in abundance. We thought the food was great and so reasonably priced. Breakfast was very enjoyable, bar snacks excellent and dinner simply delicious. An added advantage we found in Penang, which we were certainly not familiar with, was that they respected older people. There was a percentage off the cost of dinner for those of a certain age. It wasn't necessary but the gesture was much appreciated.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the garden. It can be a busy area and not very aesthetically pleasing...

Hotel stay was pretty good on the whole, the pool was a great bonus after a hot morning's adventures. We tried to check in early but the room wasn't ready for a few more hours which was understandable. Staff offered to keep our bags which was helpful. The room we stayed in faced the inner courtyard so we only heard a little bit of traffic noise. Nearly everyday we'd find one mosquito in the room even when we didn't open the balcony door, so it seems that the cleaners open up the rooms while they clean. Breakfast was incredibly average. There were a few Western and Asian dishes on offer, but nothing to rave home about. The chef broke my poached egg so the yolk was leaking onto the piece of bread it was placed on. Breakfast was included with our stay but after the first morning, we decided to venture elsewhere. For around 15-30RM/AUD $5-10(for both of us) we found good breakfast spots in the surrounding area.

We are budget travelers on a 12 month trip that decided after a lot of cold showers we would treat ourselves to this stay - and what a treat it was! One that we will never forget! The staff from the second we arrived to the minute we left were top class, they went out of their way to make up comfortable and even upgraded us to the penthouse without charge for our one night of luxury! The art work was out of this world and the restaurant food not far behind it! We would go out of our way to recommend this place to anyone, we left feeling wonderful! Many thanks to Annie and the staff! From Hayley and Dan - England
