It is now a new hotel. It is well located walking distance from the Farol da Barra, safe surrounding, good size pool, beautiful ocean views, good and diverse buffet breakfast, tasty food and friendly staff ready to help you. Price is very reasonable affordable.
Overall, I had a great experience while staying in this Hotel. It's located close enough to the center tourist area, easy to walk or just getting a ride. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. The bedroom I stayed had an astonish view to the ocean and as well to the city. The breakfast was diverse and pretty satisfying. No complains!
Swimming pool is great and a good option if you just want to relax after your trip.
The building is quite old and it seems that nothing has changed significantly in years. Though the staff is nice and friendly. Restaurant offers good breakfast and we had dinner twice, foods were really tasty and fresh.
You'll get an amazing ocean view from your room. Our room was "luxo", quite spacy and has comfortable. Though nothing very special.
Hotel has the pool area and monkeys on their territory :)
There are also pool and ping pong, but it really wants to be refreshed.
The travel agent near reception offers you city tours for 80-200 reals. Not bad!
In general, I'm satisfied with staying at Othon Palace, thanks)
I had stayed at this hotel in 1991 and again now. What I can tell you is that it hasn’t changed much in this 27 years. The room is spacious and comfy but the furniture is old and due to the sea proximity smells musty. So if you are allergic be prepared. Positive points are the good shower and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. Swimming pool is good and during summer is an excellent option. The hotel is also close to Shopping Barra, one of the best malls in town where you can have lunch or buy anything you need.
Room also has a safe and minibar. The bed, like the room, is also kind of old.
Breakfast is good enough but if you arrive half an hour before closing (ends 10 AM) you are probably not going an available table if the hotel is crowded. Breakfast buffet has eggs, omelet, yogurt, variety of breads, cheese and cakes but it could be better.
All in all, I would say I recommend this hotel for the location, price and helpful staff but if you are looking for an international standard hotel I would say this is not your choice.
Great breakfast with a good food selection to choose from especially all the different types of bread. We had a superior room on the 7th floor which was very spacious, with a large and comfortable bed. The room had views of the pool and sea on one side and the sea and famous lighthouse on the other. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Deuza at breakfast and Monica at the bar making delicious caipirinhas are the best! We highly recommend staying there. The hotel is perfectly located and it's great value for money.
