If I rent a deluxe room on the hill, is the walk very long and is it steep? I am trying to decide between the standard room and the deluxe room.

Everything about this place (rooms, restaurant, grounds, pool area) was just immaculate. Friendly staff -- good food (coffee could be a little stronger)
We ate in the restaurant both evenings - excellent!
The bird table, just off the breakfast room provided us with our best bird experience in Costa Rica. A good find!

I stayed at the Arenal Volcano Inn for 2 nights at the end of February. I was in room 101 with a magnificent view of Arenal Volcano. Breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice at the evening meal" I had a delicious pizza.

The gardens on this property are beautiful. We had a fantastic room with huge windows facing the beautiful view of the large volcano. We had a little outdoor terrace where we could peacefully have coffee in the morning with an unobstructed view of the volcano. The pool and jacuzzi were also really nice and relaxing.

To call this room “Spartan” is an insult to Sparta. There were two towels, two rock-hard pillows and the only hanging space was 30” above the floor so the clothes dragged on the ground. Room looked out on a gravel parking lot.No place to sit and utterly bare walls. Worst of all, the room was not secure. Door was a slider with a flimsy lock that opened when jiggled.

Included breakfast was just OK.

Look elsewhere; you can do better.

Dear Tripadvisor User, Your review does not correspond to our hotel. We do not have a room named Sparta, we only use numbers to refer to our rooms. Our closets have very good altitud so hanging clothing will never touch the floor. No gravel roads neither parking lot in our hotel. We kindly request to please remove your review since it is definitely not referring to our hotel.

Our stay was pleasant. The staff was very friendly and service was wonderful at the front desk and in the restaurant. The room was comfortable and had what we needed. The shower ran a bit cold and there was a smell to the room. But it was clean.

did you see lava flow at night from room?
Answer from Bud K

The volcano has not been active for at least 3 years. No lava flow and those who see steam are more likely to have confused it with clouds.
