I really enjoyed staying here. The concierge set me up with a great wine tour. The location is perfect, nice to walk around the plaza. It is also nice to take a relaxing day by the pool or get a massage in the spa.
We checked into the Park Hyatt in Mendoza at the last minute. The hotel we had originally booked did not meet the standards that we had expected from the pictures we had seen before booking. This was the closest nice hotel that we could find and luckily they had a room for us.
The hotel is located across the street from a nice park and is centrally located in the city, close to many places to eat and enjoy a glass of the local wines. It was easy to walk to all kinds of restaurants and easy to grab a bite to eat in the morning as well.
The rooms were large and very clean and the staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent.
We enjoyed sitting by the pool which had servers to bring drinks or food from the bar and the fitness center was nice as well with plenty of equipment and weights to get a good workout in.
The price was incredibly reasonable considering how much it costs to stay in a Park Hyatt in most other parts of the world. If I ever find my way back to Mendoza, I will certainly be staying at the Park Hyatt once again.
The Park Hyatt is a handsome, gracious, high end hotel with seamless, top notch service throughout. The rooms are large and well equipped. The bathrooms are enormous and modern. The hotel pool is well attended, large and lovely. The hotel has several of its own restaurants (and a wonderful wine bar) and the superb concierges will happily recommend and make reservations elsewhere. The hotel fronts on Mendoza’s largest square and a good breakfast is served daily on the front terrace facing the square. There is also a casino in one corner of the ground floor of the hotel. It has a separate outside entrance but can be accessed from the hotel. I found it small and sort of tacky but it seemed well-patronized by local residents and well run. The hotel has its own underground parking and is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.
There are better views of the city and the Andes to be had from higher hotels, but there is no better hotel in Mendoza.
Sure this may be the best hotel in Mendoza. Definitely if this was an IHG Crowne Plaza property I’d probably give it 4 or even possibly 5 stars. However this is NOT Park Hyatt quality. Let me explain. When I stay in Kuala Lumpur which I visit each year at the new Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental which is one of the cheapest places in the world for five star hotels I get the same quality as their properties across the world. The Peninsula in Bangkok offers some amazing rates but again is the same standard as their Hong Kong property. They don’t lower their standards or have worn & tired bedrooms because they are cheap. This Hotel has a Sun operated casino so I expect many of their rooms are given free. Pictures are said to tell a thousand words. Look at these photos and let me know if these room pictures are more Park Hyatt or more Crowne Plaza/Radisson Blu?
And finally this is what Park Hyatt says about their properties on their website. “Residential inspired guest rooms and premium suites give way to livable luxury and breathtaking views. Park Hyatt hotel designers furnish the finest in elegant taste while complementing the unique characteristics and culture of the destination.”
Personally I don’t see that in this hotel. I see worn corridor carpets, stains around the toilet, basic rooms, functional hanging space without doors, showers which leave a swimming pool when you’ve finished your shower, old noisy air conditioners which whir and clatter and I’m afraid to say a smell of sewage in the lift lobby and sometimes in the room as well.
Perhaps one of better hotels in Mendoza. Fast and efficient check in, good restaurant on site, comfortable rooms with a bit twisted design(garderobe inside toilet??). Pool is quite small for large hotel ..all in all good choice.
