After having previously spent a week in the summer at Bronfelin we booked for 4 days over Christmas and what a lovely time we had.
My wife has fallen in live with the Rayburn after cooking a fantastic Christmas lunch innit and the log burner and ample supply of logs was a treat after getting back from our walks.
If you want to get away from I'm it all and love the outdoors Bronfelin is perfect.
You still have Wi-Fi, immaculately clean bedding, en-suite, ample parking and you are in the middle of the Welsh countryside.
The cottage was beautiful, stunning views and well equipped kitchen. Three bedrooms - 1 double (with ensuite), 1 twin, 1 single and family bathroom, plenty of space for 4/5 adults. The beds were super comfy and the linen, duvets and pillows all clean. The kitchen was great, always a concern when something is self catering but dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, kettle and the fabulous Rayburn. There were pots and pans galore and cutlery and various utensils available. The lounge was comfy and the log fire great to snuggle round in the evening. The views are stunning and took advantage of the location and did a 10km walk. There's a well stocked DVD collection, some board games, free wifi and no television or phone signal - perfect for some peace and quiet!! A great range of maps and info on the area is available which we utilised when on our walk as we would've ended up lost :-) Can't wait to go back to meet up with friends again as the prices were more than reasonable. Thank you for a great stay, Kim, Andrew, Tracey and Michaela!
Stayed here over New Year with friends, it's a lovely cottage that had everything we needed. Very well equipped from towels to washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets. The cottage stayed warm throughout with the log fire in the living room and the rayburn in the kitchen. The beds were very comfy and the whole place was scrupulously clean. There is a TV there but there is no reception for TV, mobiles or Internet which wasn't a big problem for us but we did miss the midnight fireworks on the TV! They do have a large library of dvds and books that you can use so that was thoughtful.
Overall, a really nice place to spend a peaceful couple of days!
We stayed in the cottage nextdoor to Bronfelin, Troed Y Rhiw.
Initially we had wanted to book Bronfelin because we loved the look of the kitchen, however having stayed in Troed Y Rhiw and looked round Bronfelin I can confirm they are equally lovely. Troed y rhiw does have the cosiness factor, which we really enjoyed.
The cottage is beatuifully decorated and the king-sized bed is really quite difficult to leave in the morning. From the bed linen to the exposed beams and other touches too numerous to mention, it really seems like money has been no object when these cottages have been done out. The wood burning stove is about the best we have used - you cannot fail to light this thing and it was extremely efficient in heating the house.
We indulged in a plethora of walks quite literally form the cottage door and did not see a soul in the 6 days and countless hours we were out, which was great.
The cottage is a pleasant 20 minute stroll from town, and as long as you take a torch you can take the flat route walk back from town after a meal in the Neuadd Arms (good homemade curries and inexpensive homebrewed beer).
Do try the butchers - it seems a bit "league of gentlemen" when you walk in (as does the rest of Llanwrtyd wells at the outset) but dont be put-off - the meat is brilliant and the town is too.
Roger was laid back and friendly - he couldnt do enough to help and we wanted for nothing all week. The owners' b&b, Ardwyn House, is worth a mention - Roger and Katie were keen to show us round when we went to drop off the keys on the way home. The bedrooms are breathtaking and have been sympathetically overhauled. Its difficult to imagine anyone being disappointed with any of the rooms we saw.
A final word about the cottage - we had booked to return before we even left.....its that nice.
We stayed at the Bronfelin Holiday Cottage from 11-18 of September 2011. The weather was very good,; only rain on our way home(!).
This cottage has 2 bedrooms for 2 people and one single bedroom. nice and clean shower, one large bathroom, all with thick white towels. Thick nice carpet upstairs and stonefloor downstairs. The house is warm and cosy, because of the darkblue Rayburn, on which you can easily cook, after reading the manual. In the lounge there are 2 couches and 2 chairs, many cushions and even a library, with books and many videos and games for children and adults.
Wood is supplied for and also soap, dishwasher tablets and washmachine powder is available.
Folding table in the kitchen makes it perfect(for playing cards or unfolded for dining in style).
The burning stove in the lounge is a welcoming factor for the cold evenings. The surrouding area is from a outstanding beauty, and can explored by mountain bike, our by foot, or by car. the Spar in the village can supply you with eggs and bacon(yam!) and for a pub lunch their is always one in the nearest town for budget prizes.
this was our cleanest and nicest B&B in years, we recommend this cottage to everyone !
Good value-for-money item.
