Poor accommodation, lights, water didn't work, bed was hard. I normally don't write poor reviews, but this was poor value for the upgrade I opted for. It did, however, have a frinndly "common-room" where we spent a nice hour or two.
Unfortunately this place is poor. Very poor, and it doesn't seem like anyone cares.
There was rubbish, left over bottles from parties, horses tethered on the grass, no view of the lake and a very limited menu. Yes, it was out of season still when we stayed, so there were very few guests, but still. There will be even fewer guests if they don't start sorting the place out. On arrival we were checked in to the furthest rooms from the restaurant and bar, and there were still the damp towels on the floor and someone's flip flops in the bathroom. The toilet door didn't close and the mosquito net was very old and stained and didn't join up properly.
We had to pre-order our meal and were told what ingredients were available, but it didn't make any difference pre-ordering as it still took half an hour after we got into the dining room for the very tasteless food to arrive. The staff understandably looked glum.
We are all for budget hotels, but this was bad value at any price. Sorry.
I rarely write reviews, but I am compelled to share the horrific experience my family and I had at Crayfish Camp. We were interested in staying there because the grounds looked green and quiet, but we soon realized that the establishment is entirely mismanaged and none of the staff know anything or have any respect for the customers, they in fact routinely lie about almost every aspect of the accommodations. We had no mosquito nets, no hot water, our room smelled like cigarette smoke, and we got no sleep due to the neighbors shouting on either side of our room. They even allowed people to camp in tents near the rooms and bring their cars to fully blast bass hip hop music as loud as in a club - you can imagine what 10 car stereos sound like full blast all at the same time. The management allowed these people to get drunk and blare their music all night long, even though they claim the music at the Campground stops at 10pm. I implore anyone considering to go to Crayfish Campground to go anywhere else, if you stay at Crayfish, you will regret it.
Camped here as part of an Intrepid tour. Reasonable for camping, although toilet and shower areas could be maintained a bit better and hot water for showers could be temperamental.
Bar area was decent and wifi connection at the bar good.
There were powercuts (some prolonged) but not much the hotel can do about that, more of a local infrastructure issue.
The place was virtually deserted when we stayed (midweek), so nice and peaceful. I believe it gets busier at the weekends.
Would recommend a trip to nearby Hell's Gate NP and Crater Lake NP - both spectacular places.
Didn't stay in one of the rooms, so wouldn't comment too much, but wasn't impressed with the one I did view - damp marks all over the walls, and some members of the group who did stay in a room complained of hot water and water pressure issues.
...worst experience ever, what with dry taps, lack of room amenities, lack of mosquito net, torn towels!this is despite several complaints to the front office staff.
general cleanliness terrible!Won't be back!
