For years, I have stayed in this his four-star hotel on my way back from Italy ; that was always a real pleasure to have accomodation there with a friendly and polite staff. The owners, Family Weiss, were tactful hosts and always welcomed you as unique. Unfortunately they retired last May 2019, and passed the hotel to another Austrian family : Family Seyrling. I stayed anew in Vitalhotel Kaiserhof (Albrecht-Dürer-Weg 9), at the end of July 2019 and had the worst accomodation experience in my life. At first glance, indeed nothing had changed : gorgeous panorama over the Inn Valley from the bedroom, the same indoor decoration and smooth carpets. In fact, all had changed : no welcome words during check-in, an awful and poor diner (cold and tasteless "mousaka" BUT hot iced cream), grumbling waiter and so on. Breakfast was worst than worst : nothing to eat after 8:30 am, a coffee machine mostly out of order and another waiter unfriendly as the one we had the day before. Freezing experience !!! There are hundreds of good and worthy hotels in the region : Avoid Vitalhotel Kaiserhof and his unfriendly atmosphere ! Most of all avoid the new woman in charge of this hotel : rude, arrogant and, in a word, odious.
We stayed here for one night whilst on our way to Italy, booking it a couple of hours before arriviing. Our room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfy. We booked bed breakfast and evening meal and the food was fantastic. The evening meal consisted of salad bar to start with followed by soup, main course and dessert, breakfast was buffet style and was delicious!! Would definitely stay again.
The pluses are great breakfast, good WiFi, large firm bed, coffee and cake in the afternoon ........ the minuses are the bar shuts between 7 and 8 pm, the restaurant doesn’t function in the evenings, breakfast starts at 8am, the heating in the room is just enough but the en-suite is cold, and if you phone ahead to ask for non-feather bedding you may be told, as we were by the owner, “we don’t provide that”. We tracked down his wife, point out the website says it does and there was no problem. On check out our documentation said “non-feather bedding”. Overall it was too much effort to get a beer, evening meal, get the bedding we asked for and chose between no breakfast or a late start.
This hotel is run by a cheat and a cheapskate. If you book multiple rooms for your extra guests, he will sell you a sob story about an injured guest needing your second room and then will offer you the sofa in your first room at a special discount. This "good price" is *more* than the normal extra bed charge!
Furthermore, the decor and amenities are 30 years out of date, the "gym" is two stationary bicycles, and half the breakfast items are empty.
Save yourself a headache and stay somewhere else.
We had the same issue as others. We booked 4 rooms for 3 couples and 1 single traveller in group. We were given 3 rooms. One with a pull out and told we would be given a discount. When we checked out the bill came out to be more than what the cost for 3 rooms and a pull out was online. But Manager was very rude and wouldn't acknowledge this. He was acting like he was doing us a favor. Since this looks like a pattern.. I think it's a scam he pulls when the same reservation books multiple rooms.
