It started with the initial check-in. I tried to change my reservation to a 2-night stay to a 1-night stay, they could not accommodate me after I told them I was affected by the Northern fires and received word that I can return the next day. I was told I could not do that. I also requested a ground room and I ended up on the 2nd floor. The man at the front desk treated me poorly. This is not an establishment that you want to stay in under any circumstances.
New Year's Eve I had to stand in the cold at 845 pm for 30 minutes to get a room, it was 40 degrees outside and the inside lobby was closed(not midnite but 8pm). The environment is rough to say the least. A guy asked my husband as we walked by did we just play on his phone? We said no! We just got here and don't know you! Once in the room the walls, carpet, bedding, chairs, dressers etc all very very dirty! The room had not been vacuumed, or sweated. Paid 103.00 for a bed I slept on the top blanket due to hair in the pillows and bed.very gross place
This hotel needs help. Dirty carpets, uncomfortable beds, unsafe feeling. Had one washcloth in a room for 4 people. In the morning I asked at the office for additional washcloths and was told they didn't have any more.
If you want somewhere cheap for the area this works (this is why we picked). It's a 5min walk to main area of town with nice restaurants. Main clientele appeared to be tradesmen. I would not recommend for families/ single women as the area felt unsafe (I rarely say that in a review). Mixed reviews on staff (varied between indifferent to rude). The lights in the room didn't all work but didn't even bother complaining as didn't see point.
The rooms are worn, and the carpet needs to be replaced, however our room was very clean. Our relatives had the room next door and it smelled like someone had smoked a lot in there and then the hotel had tried to cover up the smell with something and it just mixed two smells together and not in a good way.
The bathroom counter is big and has a lot of space to put your stuff. There are no soap bars, just a liquid soap dispenser in the tub area.
Beds were decent.
We were able to walk to the town square and enjoy a festival. But some of the other hotel guests seemed to just be hanging around and cruising the parking lot with no other plans for the day.
Pool seems to be permanently closed. No wifi. The front desk people were friendly and they do have coffee in the mornings.
The price is good, and if you are looking for a bargain, this is an okay place. You could do worse.
