Booked to stay 4D/3N at premium pool sea view villa for 3 adults. Upon check in noticed room amenities provided were for 2 adults. Called housekeeping but no additional amenities were sent. Tried front office. Was told it was standard to provide amenities for 2 even though we paid for 3. To cut the story short, in the end they sent the additional amenities. OMG that was the first time I had to argue with hospitality staff to get what I paid for. They seem to think they are running a boot camp?
The villa allocated was tired looking. This is understandable due to the lockdown. But housekeeping needs to buck up and do a better job - kids scribblings on the door frame, marks on glass doors, grime at the private pool.
I also had the misfortune of losing my bag of toiletries. Brought this up to housekeeping but other than sending someone over to understand the situation, no apology or assurance that they will look into the matter.
The only saving grace was the excellent service I had from Lexispa and the awesome view from the balcony of my villa - of slow sailing ships in the straits of Melaka. But not enough to warrant a repeat visit nor will I recommend this resort to friends and family - sorry!
Huge resort. U need buggy to go to your room . Each room has swimmg pool good enough for kids .
Room n swimming pool was clean. We booked premium pool villa and view is u got to see another rooms in front. Not quite privacy .
Breakfast is good plenty of choices but public holidays was hectic the restaurant was full inside out.
Bicycle provided ( rental) , few activities at beach but not fully operate yet due to covid.
This was my 1st ever getaway after the pandemic started with the movement control, SOP etc. Despite some bad reviews about the place, me and my Taiwanese colleague, who is planning to leave the Malaysia workplace for good, decided to release ourselves from the 2-year disciplined and energy-draining WFH work life, and go for a recharge.
As the country has moved towards opening up, the place were quite crowded, even though during the Puasa month period.
Our experience weren't as bad as some mentioned in the review.
Check-in was not slow, despite the crowd. Buggy service was immediate for us, when we 1st took it. Thereafter, we walked all the time, because we intended to keep distance from others as much as we can, and our unit is not that further away (we stayed at the petal location).
The pool was cleaner than we expected (review said dirty) but the sauna room was not functioning (not heated up even though on it for 30 mins).
Staff we encountered from receptionists to buggy driver to restaurant operators were nice. We did once ask for replenish of our toiletries (as we stayed for 2 nights), I had to call twice as my 1st request was not attended to.
Nevertheless, the room rate is agreeably over-priced as many claimed. With about RM 1,500 , it is not really worth the price we paid.
The buffet breakfast was good enough for me (because I have been locked down at home eating limited variety of food for the whole two years) but it is not up to the standards for a five star hotel buffet (bread, nasi lemak, porridge, omelets, soup noodle - not at par with what a 5-star luxury resort supposed to offer). We did not have our lunch and dinner in house though, as the restaurants were not fully operational yet and was told the the dinner could be fully booked for buka puasa.
Since this was a staycation, we did not expect much but just to stay relax and stay away from work & lockdown routine.
So I did enjoy my getaway during my stay in the resort. We rested very well. However, it will be quite pricy and uneventful, if you expect a merrier/happening getaway, unless going with family and kids (who may love the little swimming pool in the unit).
And as a Penangites, Port Dickson, its food and its beaches have never attracted me comparatively. Unfortunately. Sorry.
Had 1N stay (May 2022) at the Panorama Seaview Room (facing south). Here are my experience throughout the stay
Arrival - Roofed parking is at another building, if you have children and elderly you might want to drop them at the main lobby first. Outdoor parking (without security supervision) is nearer to the compound entrance/exit. I saw suites rooms are applicable for designated parking zones which are more convenient.
Check in - Upon reaching the main lobby, was transported to The Lighthouse for check in via buggy service. Probably due to higher class room. Check-in process was sleek without hassle and given with complimentary canned drinks
Stay - Upon entry, was amazed by the huge sized room and toilet area. The main point of this stay is the private pool and the amazing Malacca Straits view. Comfy beds and pillows with usual complementary mineral water and tea/coffee powder.
Dining - For Panorama Rooms, can opt for either buffet breakfast or ala carte @The Lighthouse. We chose the buffet at Roselle Coffee House (with slot booking). Overall the breakfast quality is 3.5/5. If the management provided more quality food (better cheese, meat and fresher vege), it will get a full marks from us.
Unexpected point - For Panorama Rooms, we get to experience the complementary (or charged) evening cocktails sessions with some really tasty food and bottomless cocktail/mocktails/wine/ premium juices. All together with the service from the lead waiter full with passion, offering the seats with amazing overview of the Lexis Hibiscus. Super thumbs up on this.
Other service
- Buggy service are rapid (with ride booking). Longest waiting time experience is 7mins top.
Setbacks/Dissatisfaction
1. See-through glass at flooring is dirty and might be very difficult to clean
2. Did not try the sauna room as the impression on the tiles are yellowish (maybe due to breeze corrosion)
3. 1 of the bath towels is with pink stains.
4. The AC control is unable to work (only ON or OFF with no other controls performing)
5. TV has some connectivity issues but we just ignored it as the technology is overpowered by the natural sea view
Due to Covid-19, we opt for Lexis Hibiscus that has private pool.
The villa is spacious and beautiful. My children had great time playing in the pool all day. Hot shower with good pressure, comfy bed and linens, housekeeping responded to our request for extra towels fast enough, buggy service are reasonably fast in view of high demand.
There are 3 slots for breakfast during our stay (super peak season): 630-730am, 730-830am and 830-930 am. We were out of choice and got the first slot. It doesn't really matter as we start our day early and soak in the pool again right after breakfast =) Wide variety of food is offered, taste is fine.
Only one flaw: There are many sharp edges in the villa. Watch out and be wary! The wardrobe doors, ceiling height glass doors and bathroom doors - they all c/w exposed sharp edges! And ouch, clumsy me, i got hurt!
