If you have never been to Sanibel Island, you must add it to your BUCKET List! We have gone several times and Sanibel is as peaceful and tranquil as our first trip in 1984. This past Summer, we brought our Son and his girlfriend. The girlfriend has 2 dogs and we wanted to give her the option to bring them with her. We looked on Vrbo for a pet friendly rental and reached out to the Owners. One Owner of a competing property recommended SIGNAL INN to me.
I quickly went to Signal Inn's website and booked a 2 bed Condo for the July 4th weekend. One is allowed to bring up to 2 dogs or cats with them. There is a very small additional pet fee; ours was around $150 for the week long stay.
The girlfriend ended up not bringing her 2 dogs with her and when we checked in, we were given a refund for the pet deposit., plus a complimentary bottle of wine ;)
Whether you have pets or not, Signal Inn is a very quiet Resort offering 1 & 2 bedroom Condos and a few town homes, a total of 19. Rates vary on the Season. We enjoy renting a Condo versus a hotel room(s). They are more spacious, parking is directly under the Condo, beach items are complimentary, though you will need to bring your own fishing pole, option to save some $$$ with a full kitchen. There is a washer and dryer inside the Condo's with a screened Lanai.
There is a swimming pool with lots of chairs so, no need to "reserve" a chair like the larger Hotels. A private board walk takes you to the warm, white sands of the Gulf Shores. Bring a sack with you to gather all those Shells you will be collecting. We find early AM is the best time to collect Shells but, it depends on the tide.
We brought our own HDMI cord so, we were able to live stream from our laptop for our Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime accounts. Sanibel is a very quiet Island to decompress. There is Kayaking, one can rent a fishing boat, stroll on the beach, bicycle around the Island, visit Ding Darling and of course drive to Captiva Island and lunch at the Mucky Duck.
The sad part of Signal Inn and Sanibel Island is having to go back to reality.
We have stayed at Signal inn twice and it is one of the best properties we have stayed in. It has everything you need in the apartment. There is a nice porch with a great view. The rooms are a great size and the properties is easily big enough for everyone (we had 6 people) There is a swimming pool that is actually very nice. I can highly recommend staying here.
Loved, loved, loved the Signal Inn! The main reason I first chose the Signal Inn was that I wanted to bring my dog with on our family vacation. Dogs are allowed in most of the rentals. However, the tikki style rental condos are spotless and do not look or smell like pets have been visiting, if you know what I mean. We all loved the accommodation - the layout and room to move around our two bedroom one bath unit was perfect. Great porch to watch the sunrise. For sunset we walked a short boardwalk to the beach. The pool was heated and our granddaughter has a great time swimming with us. No pets allowed in the pool though. Beautiful landscaping all around, and a nice roadway to a pet area for dog walks. The Signal Inn is very close to the local grocery store and shops, restaurants, etc. Since our plane only left later in the day the staff allowed us leave our luggage in a back office until we were ready to take a cab to the airport. I was even able to put my dog's special food in the staff refrigerator. A fantastic staff and a wonderful vacation. We WILL be returning to the Signal Inn.
We just left The Signal Inn, unit #11 on Sanibel Island Fl. We couldn't have been more impressed! The condo was very clean and had everything we could need. The whole condo was tiled and there was absolutely no pet smell from previous visitors (which was a big concern of mine ;-)). The kitchen was fully equipped, there were plenty of towels and even beach towels! The condo even had beach chairs! Upon checking in, we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine and a toy for our dog. The property was well cared for. The pool/hot tub was clean and was just outside of this unit. The beach was just a short walk away. If you have pets and are looking for a pet friendly resort close to the beach, then look no farther than the Signal Inn! Looking forward to heading back soon.
Our last trip to Sanibel was over a decade ago, we stayed at the Signal Inn then as well. It was such a memorable trip then we decided to go with what we knew and remembered. In spite of the years, our memories of our vacation then have not disappointed.
We stayed in Unit #19, a townhouse, at the Signal Inn. Recently redone, the space is beautiful and comfortable for the 5 of us (which included three teenage boys.). The first floor has a large full bath, a room with two twin beds and another with a queen bed. Living space is open with large sliders to the lanai. From the lanai we look out over the lushness of Sanibel which our pathway cuts through to the beach.
The second floor master is actually a loft (couldn't really tell this from the pictures on line nor did I think to inquire when making reservations.). At first I was concerned about the privacy as this is partially opened to the living area below. However our teens were respectful keeping the noise and chatter down so it really wasn't an issue. On the second floor there is a lovely updated bathroom (a bit small for two at the vanity at the same time but no big deal.)
The grounds at the Signal Inn are beautiful and tropical. The pool and hot tub well maintained. The property manager LeeAnne was as delightful as ever and wanted to be sure we had all we needed for a wonderful vacation. This was truly all that a family vacation should be.
I even got high 5's from the teens!!!!!
