My wife and I visited The Majestic Hotel with our two children who both were under the age of 10 at the time of our visit and we had an incredible overall experience. The hotel is relatively close to the ferry port, maybe 20 minutes. The hotel’s service was phenomenal! We were greeted at the reception desk by the hotel's staff and welcomed warmly. The room was perfect for a family of four as we had plenty of space to spread out. The unique layout of the room provided separate areas for my wife and I and the kids. The food was great and room service was easy to use and delivered quickly. The pools were beautiful, the small playground was just the right size to provide the kids with a space of their own (not too much variety), and the gym was good for a simple workout (not a lot of equipment). The hotel's location was ideal for a quick walk to the town, even with two young kids.
Santorini has become popular Greek island over last few years especially for cruise liners. We chose to come here towards the end of season in fact I understand it was closing at end if October. As a result we found the hotel quiet apart from the obligatory Chinese and a few Americans. However it did enable us to have a very relaxed, peaceful week break. The hotel cannot be faulted although it is not 5* for me at best 4*. The hotel is modern and clean and has magnificent views of both sides of the island especially where the ships come in. Breakfast was acceptable although standard and little alternatives each day. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had one meal at night in the restaurant, we were the only ones there but food not too expensive. As the hotel is a distance away from Fira a suggestion is to offer transport into town at set times in the day. Although the distance into town was not far, for older people in the heat and on the road was restricting. Taxi cost was 7 euro. Room was clean but we did experience mosquitos and the bathroom not high quality. Overall I would recommend the hotel and come again
We stayed at the Majestic Hotel as a family a few weeks ago. The property is located about a 10 minute walk away from the centre of Fira. There are no amenities in the immediate vicinity. There is one supermarket about 400 meters from the hotel and another about 800 meters. The hotel itself is splendid as is the reception service. The ladies on reception are extremely helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble. The property is very clean and well kept. The selection at breakfast was great- eggs, beans, grilled veggies, salads, dry and fresh fruits, pastries, breads and cereals. We ordered room service on a number of days- again the selection is not vast but adequate. Everything we ordered tasted great esp the Greek salad! Please note that if you are gluten free, the options available are limited. The co-ordination at breakfast was always a slight issue- we were a family of 5 and often had to squeeze onto a small table as the larger tables were taken by either an individual or a couple. There was never enough or adequate cutlery available and the breakfast staff were nonchalant. The hotel has a hot and cold pool along with a small spa which has both a sauna and steam room. They offered all ladies a complimentary mini facial which was pleasant. Overall a pleasing stay in Santorini!
I handed my sweater to the lady at the front desk because I didn’t want to carry it around town on that hot day. I was told it would be associated with my luggage. The next morning as I was getting ready to leave my room, I noticed my sweater was not there. I didn’t think much of it and figured it was still at the front desk. I went to the front desk and was told it should have been placed in my room ahead my luggage and was told to search my room again because it should be there. I went back and thoroughly searched my room. I went back to the front desk and told the lady at the desk it wasn’t there. She said she would make note of it.
Throughout the rest of my 3 day stay at the hotel, I would check with the front desk a couple of times a day for any updates on the sweater. Each and every time I asked, they would deflect the blame and even told me that someone from housekeeping was in the room when the person dropped off my sweater. So that caused it to be my word against theirs, essentially making me look like a liar. So if two people claim the sweater was placed in my room, why wasn’t it there when I looked for it?My luggage was there but my sweater was not. Then the very last time I asked for an update before checking out, I was told that it had to have been placed in one of my group members’ room because we were the only ones checking in that morning. That’s not true because there was a lot of people, not in my group, sitting around the lobby waiting for check-in.
I never made a big fuss about it or was rude or hostile because it’s just a sweater but I didn’t like how they handled the situation. Never once did the staff apologize or take responsibility for their error. I can only imagine how they would have handled the situation if it was something of value. It sucks because it’s a nice hotel and the staff was so accommodating and nice in other ways but when it came to that incident, not so much.
I sent a email to email@example.com last Sunday when I got home to check if the sweater was ever found. 7 days later and I’m still waiting on a response but I won’t be holding my breath.
If you are ever in Santorini, THIS is the hotel that you want to stay in. Everything from the staff to the rooms themselves were great. The colors in the room give you a vacation vibe and the rooms are very spacious. The private balcony was an extra touch if you wanted to sit outside and watch the sunset. The view was AMAZING. The staff were also very helpful. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from Fira city center which wasn't bad at all. There was a bus stop right outside of the hotel in case you wanted to catch the bus to other places outside of Fira. One of my favorite hotels during my stay in Greece.
