The manager, I hope he is not the owner, seems to think it is a good idea to park his and another vehicle in the undercover guest entrance adjacent to reception. No one can drive through or park!! Our case involved teaming rain, which meant we had to accommodate it to get to reception and then be told to park at the back, again accessing our car through teaming rain. Then, instead of walking through to our room from reception, we had to again accommodate teaming rain, slush and mud. Guess what, we would have to have gone through it all again, on departure, until we asked him to move the bloody cars.
Found a left behind takeaway meal in our fridge, which stunk, know one could guess how long it had been there.
Reception is never manned so you have to ring a number when attention is needed.
Breakfast looked ordinary, so we passed on the free breakfast and ate elsewhere.
Apart from this, the rest seemed reasonable but would never choose it again visiting Collie.
Wonderful place to stay nice friendly atmosphere very clean room with extremely comfy bed. Great price with free continental breakfast, not many places around like this. Local pub on doorstep with great friendly staff and awesome meals. You would certainly have to be hard to please if you didn't like Banksia Motel. Lyn
Room was clean and neat, however, on arrival noticed 2 lights were not working, presumably the globes blown. New globes were provided to fix. Also basin tap in bathroom leaked badly, unless the tap was closed so tightly, was then difficult to use. The shower head, also leaked badly, wasting more water than necessary. Ironically a small green notice was slipped on side of the bathroom mirror, reminding guests to be water wise, and think of the environment. Clearly not being followed by the Motel staff.
Stayed here on an overnight trip to Collie, booking on line was quick and check in was very easy. The room was clean and tidy , the mattress was old but adequate enough for an overnight trip. Free wifi, could do with a vending machine or at least an ice machine, if there was one it was well hidden. Breakfast basic but okay. If travelling through Collie again would be happy enough to stay again
This was our 2nd stay at the Banksia Motel and again, we were not disappointed. We were greeted by the owner (sorry but we never found out his name) who showed us around the guest areas including the breakfast room and also to our room. Everywhere is so beautifully clean and with the Banksia not situated on the main road, it is also extremely quiet (unlike a lot of motels that we have stayed in). We mentioned that the lighting, especially in the bathroom, was very dim and, by the time we returned from our day out, that lighting had been changed and was so much brighter - thank you!
The bedroom is comfortably furnished and equipped with a microwave, fridge and kettle plus tea/coffee and milk. Plenty of hanging and drawer space if you wish to unpack, plenty of surface space in the bathroom to place all your toiletries, a bedside table each and a bedside light. Our room looked out to the gardens and swimming pool which, in the summer, would be a bonus to be able to finish off a day of touring with.
Breakfast is DIY but all provisions are provided for you in the dining room.
This is definitely a great motel and comes highly recommended when staying in the Collie region.
If I had to say anything negative about this place it would be the lack of being able to find a staff member at breakfast time / check-out time. Maybe a bell on the front counter to alert someone would be a good idea.
