We visited Lakeside as part of a music festival weekend and I had the expectation "roughing it "for a couple of nights in a local B&B .....how wrong could I have been ! . The standard of accommodation, food and service we received was five star luxury all the way ! In a fabulous location, backing on to a lake the B&B is a two story converted barn with reception area, dining room, first floor seating area with views over farm land and two highly appointed en suite bedrooms. The breakfast is freshly prepared is undoubtably one of the best feasts I had anywhere on my travels. All in all a gem of a place owned and loved by two wonderful people who share their warmth and hospitality without limit. Thank you for a brilliant weekend .....we will be back !!
We stayed here for Carfest. It beats glamping! We caught the sunny day on Sunday and stayed here overnight. A lovely Room (Senna) with a jaw dropping shower room with beautiful full hight tiling, piping hot water and a good strong shower. The place has been decorated with an excellent attention to detail and the Barn is blessed with a lovely location next to the lake with plenty to take in on a good walk in the morning.
The owners are very accommodating and extremely friendly. They couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast was just what we needed the morning after, starting with fruit and berries on a beautifully laid breakfast table and finishing with a hearty, perfectly presented full english, and it all helped make the weekend that bit more special.
A very short walk to the north entrance of Oulton Park makes this a cracking spot to stay if you're here for an event at Oulton Park. We may well be back for the Gold Cup later this year! Well worth it!
Hotel was a tad difficult to find with the name cunningly written on a post box on the front wall but it was worth persevering! Delightful luxury accommodation - felt like one's own pad with small kitchen downstairs (with real coffee, fantastic range of teas and drinks on offer), bedroom & bathroom & sitting room upstairs. Clever barn conversion with lots of space and light. We loved the comfy 4 poster bed (though the vertically challenged might have trouble climbing in!) and state of the art bathroom and enjoyed all the treats (scrumptious tea in the garden -with scones which melted in the mouth), Prosecco/chocs in the sitting room, and hi-tech sound system to experiment with. Breakfast was excellent and attentively served by the owner himself. Evening meals available locally at other establishments within walking distance. We went for a one day cookery course which was excellent and I'm sure we'll be back.
Having previously stayed at the Green Bough Hotel in Chester my wife and I were keen to return due to the excellent all round experience we enjoyed.
Initial disappointment that the hotel had now closed was tempered with an opportunity to try the owner’s new venture, a converted barn with luxury rooms on the outskirts of Chester.
Our 20th Wedding anniversary fell just right to try the new accommodation and having just returned from a wonderful stay on 25th June we have to shout loud that the Green Bough legacy lives on!!
For all those who enjoyed the owner’s previous hotel we can heartily recommend a stay at the new Lakeside Barn. A warm welcome, luxury accommodation set in a wonderful location and the friendly, helpful service made the visit an absolute pleasure.
The room and living area where spotless with the facilities reflecting a lot of thought from the owners to make the stay just perfect. On booking the evenings accommodation the contact (Laura) was very helpful and always available to answer any queries or offer advice on the local area.
We will certainly look forward to returning and will be recommending the Lakeside Barn to friends and family safe in the knowledge Janice and Phillip will provide a warm welcome.
The very best of luck in your new venture and thank you again for a wonderful time, we’ll be back for sure, I just hope we’ll be able to get a room once the good word spreads!!
