I was on my own at this wonderful and quiet 17th century Manor for two nights and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. Amanda was an excellent host and very knowledgeable regarding good places to visit and some of the better eating establishments in the area. My room was well appointed and the bed very comfortable. Amanda asked me what I liked for breakfast when I arrived but moreover she would put together an impressive continental breakfast. The Manor became an ideal location to explore from. Overall, I had a memorable experience and without doubt I would highly recommend Ranscombe Manor.

This was our first visit to Devon, and the choice of accommodation could not have been more perfect. The Manor is up a country lane surrounded by fields,so is very quiet. The cottage we stayed in was beautiful, it had its own patio and a huge lawn just for our own use, but we could go anywhere in the grounds. Inside everything had been thought of, the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and living room were all beautifully decorated and fully equipped. Amanda was on hand to give advice as to the best routes to take, best beaches, and if needed the best take away to use.She is the perfect host, on hand if you need her. We sat out side on our last night in the blazing sunshine eating our dinner bought from a local farm shop, and really things could not have been better. If you like quality, peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings this is it.

This is a collection of wonderful rooms in a gorgeous Manor House and grounds. Amanda, the host, was most helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful living room area for guests is comfortable, well appointed and centred around a great open fire. Up a spiral ( and wonky) staircase to the rooms which are wonderfully decorated and furnished, comfortable and a perfect place to rest. Our room had a great bathroom and shower area, with stunning views across the surrounding gardens and countryside.
Breakfast was continental, but ample choice of fruits, yogurts, ham, cheese, breads, pancakes, muffins - as good a continental as we have seen.
This is definetly a wonderful place to stay in a brilliant peaceful location and is the very epitomy of th phrase 'hidden gem'. I'm sure we will be back.

Returning to visit the Salcombe area where I grew up we decided to stay near Kingsbridge as we could not find a suitable place in Salcombe. Very pleased to find Ranscombe Manor where Amanda could not have been a more interesting and attentive host. For example she went out of way to find decaffeinated tea and coffee for my wife and after we had left she posted some stamped cards that we had forgotten in the room. The rooms are very quiet with thick stone walls. The Manor is in a restful country location away from town noise and traffic.
